For any anti-Trump voter in 2020, there's little to nothing that Trump has done since to change your mind. In fact, he's only gotten worse. He incited a riot on the capitol, stole classified documents, and has been convicted of federal crimes.
Any pro-Biden voter in 2020 should be firmly in Harris' camp in 2024.

(5,411 posts)That the economy / border was better under Trump and believe it without checking any facts.
Four years have passed and theyve also forgotten how bad Trump was at everything.

(4,728 posts)In 11/2020 Trump's horrors were fresh in peoples' minds. Aversion can fall off very quickly in time. This is why T is dancing away from P25 - it makes the aversion fresh again.

It's just bullshit, plain and simple

(17,802 posts)Sadly, there are dems who fall into that group and wont vote for a non-white, non- male candidate.
But that number is lower this cycle hopefully. It is a smaller pill to take than voting for tsf.
So while they exist, i think the numbers reported are just people lying to pollsters. That happens also.

(306 posts)That's racism? I'm not even white and I laugh at these far flung accusations of racism in the face of actual facts
Makes real racism harder to get thru stubborn people's minds ya know?

(17,802 posts)I didnt say it cost us both elections.
Yes, there were dems in 2008 who wouldnt vote for obama because he was black.
And no, it didnt cost us the election.

(306 posts)Rural white voters, a demographic generally.not democratic, voted in higher % for obama.than Kerry or Gore....or Clinton (Hillary)
So, whatever small % did do that, the demographic we as dems.largely call racists, voted.for him at a higher % than white dems and in that same year his % was higher than down ticket Dems in those rural areas. Do a little research
I ain't buying that nonsense tbh
I was born and live in Appalachia(deep red area), I'm not white and the few idiots that wouldn't vote for him for that reason was minimal

(17,802 posts)I personally know white dems who told me in 2008 they wouldnt vote for obama, and the reason was pretty clear.
Of course, i live in mass, so it didnt matter, but i traveled all over the country for work, and it was clear there were whites who wouldnt vote for him because he was black.
Maybe people eere just being more honest with me because you really cant tell where i stand politically. I dont wear it, especially at work.

(306 posts)Maybe people voted for him cuz he was black so, right? But I generally follow the math, and the math suggests he won on his merit/policies and racism had little to do with the results (as far as an overall result)
Don't doubt there was people who didn't vote for him cuz he was black, but I'm sure people also voted for him cuz he was black
The american population is generally ignorant of the actual politicians outside of one or two things that voter care about anyways
Think. Again.

(25,644 posts)Or they blame the Biden administration for something and lump VP Harris in with the rest.
Or they find something TSF said compelling.
Or they're confused and irrational.
Lots of possibilities, really.

(306 posts)That it appealed to a lot of frustrated voters, even if he didn't deliver on what they wanted
He also has this awful habit of saying bad stuff to other politicians that makes normal people laugh and think he is their 'champion'
I know several people who disliked trump and voted for him simply because he said things they could relate to easier
I generally dislike politicians, and still vote. My barber is actually.my congressman, and he is an R but I know he's a sincere human being and generally well-liked I know the D also he ran against He's not a nice guy at all, and has a reputation for being a thief in business he may be the only R I've voted for since 1988
It's why I tend to follow the local politics more cuz I know them more

(15,321 posts)This isn't 2016, when trump was just the latest cartoon character on the GOP's front page. After four years of his open criminality, people saw what he was and he was roundly defeated in 2020. Since then, trump's "base" has continued to shrink. The electorate now has eight years of being force-fed the "all trump, all the time" media freak show.
The russians are still doing everything they can to mess with the election, as is the media with their tired "examinations" of the imaginary "undecided voter." People have become immune to their "cletus safaris" to "gauge the mood of the voter" at the Hooterville General Store/Diner/Gun shop.
Anyway, all of this doesn't add up to a Biden voter deciding to hop on the trump train wreck.

(1,213 posts)Just like all those Christians who claim to have been atheist once upon a time. They stupidly equate atheism with not going to church, or being unchurched.
Not the same thing at all.
It's always a lie when Christians make that claim, and it's a lie when someone says they voted Joe in 2020 but will vote for TSF now. They were always traitors. They're just gaslighting you about it now.
