1. The family that invited Trump doesn't get to exempt him from the law. They simply don’t have that power. They also don’t speak for all the other gold star families.

2. Trump didn’t go for the first or second anniversaries, just the one before an election.

4. In October 2020, Trump said he would have all the troops in Afghanistan home by Christmas. Didn't happen.

On edit, I looked at the picture closer and the grave to the left of Darin Hoover's (who died in 2021) IS one of a soldier (Christopher Marckesano) who did die in 2020, under Trump's watch.

She didn’t like me pointing out the ‘bathing in the blood’ of the 13 murdered by the suicide bomber in 2021, but was particularly miffed that I pointed out Trump’s failure to attend vigils for the ones who died on his watch.

He almost certainly considers the whole honor thing a racket. As far as he is concerned they are suckers and losers, and he is probably afraid that if he hangs around them too much their loserness might rub off on him.
