(113,131 posts)after the last asshole tried to turn them into Pox News #2.
Journalism costs money. You have to fly people around to where stories are happening and those people need to be able to talk and to write and there has to be a camera operator with decent equipment with them.
Empty headed drones who mouth GOP talking points are cheap.

(2,918 posts)That Trump and republicans attack CNN all the time. What they miss is they are working the refs. Republicans criticize CNN and other media outlets so they will lean further to the right in order to look fair and unbiased.

VP Harris: Been there, done that. Next.
Bash: That's it?
Harris: That's it.
Bash: Uh-oh, I have thirty seconds of empty air. NOW what do I do?

(9,857 posts)First Newt and his GoPac, then Tom Delay was pretty open about their aims to capture the media, and was also busy installing lobbyists with the K Street project.. I read an excellent book back in the 00's about their work to game the media, really informative. Wish I could remember the name of it, but at the moment it escapes me. If I remember it, Il'll edit this post because it was really well written and laid out the information clearly, IIRC.

(38,768 posts)Profit, the #1 goal of corporate media owners necessitate that they be shallow purveyors of shallow party talking points which invariably are Republican. They make politics shallow at talking point level.
Corporate media have to be dragged by online popularity to even acknowledge weird or mind your own damn business as a thing. But they refuse to challenge Republicans about what's behind those ideas.

(6,027 posts)No insights, no creativity, no follow up, just lists of questions and blank stares when they don't know how to follow up on an unexpected, more astute answer.
If I were a college president of one of these schools producing such poor quality graduates in journalism, I'd ask them to hide their diploma.

(2,401 posts)does not compute: "MAGAs still think".
When did MAGAs *start* thinking. They're just parroting their source(s) of truth, which is/are working the refs.

(2,918 posts)Its what conservatives have been doing for decades. Then media organizations bend more to the right to prove they are unbiased.

(12,908 posts)they lurched right to get back viewers who switched to Pox (deliberate typo). All that managed to do was lose more viewers who wanted something besides Russian propaganda (GOP talking points).
I stopped watching when they were openly rooting for Bill Clinton to be impeached as an impeachment translates into ratings / advertising dollars.
When Reagan opted to veto the restoration of the Fairness Doctrine it opened the door for propaganda to flood the media. We can than Reagan for infotainment like Rash Limbaugh, Pox News and Sinclair Broadcasting. Pox even won a lawsuit where they took the position that they could deliberately broadcast lies as verified news.

(542 posts)because Vice President Harris' responses were so spot on. This race may well be decided by political independents who could go either way.
How Harris counters what the right is throwing at her is essential.
Her poll numbers went UP after the CNN interview.
