I was stuck with it during a family thing, and it was 24/7 about how awful Kamala Harris is. Not a single word about trump except the assassination attempt. They completely ignored the Arlington Cemetery issue like it didn't happen. Fox viewers live in a thick propaganda bubble.

(9,993 posts)one iota. And I suspect that is the case with the overwhelming number of people on DU (if not all). I don't mean to disparage anyone, but it seems to me that Trump supporters (and Fox News watchers) have something broken in their brain that makes them susceptible to propaganda that those of us here can see clearly for what it is - total Bullshit.
It's why some people are susceptible to cults while others aren't. Listen to Trump supporters interviewed at rallies and you hear things that make it clear that they no longer believe in objective reality. It's actually easy to see. Trump says something that is easily provably false (like abortions being performed after birth) and the vast majority of his supporters will then repeat it as if it were fact.
The challenge is how to deprogram them and bring them back to actual reality (and out of their make-believe MAGA "reality"
. It is possible. We've all seen former Trump supporters see the light - Jan. 6 did it for quite a few. Now if someone could just figure out how to make it happen more quickly... If it were easy, it would already have happened.

About the Roy Cohn-Donald Trump-Jeffrey Epstein Axis of Evil Turds
... Who knew what when? In Palo Alto, after Epsteins conviction, he was a guest at a dinner for the MIT neuroscientist Ed Boyden that was hosted by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. At the same dinner Elon Musk introduced Epstein to Mark Zuckerberg. Is money so powerful that it tramples all other considerations? As James Baldwin put it, I cant believe what you say, because I see what you do.
One of the most remarkable moments in Tyrnauers documentary comes near the end, when its no longer possible to pretend that (Roy) Cohn isnt a liar and a fraud, when its no longer possible to deny that he lacks both shame and conscience. When Cohn was about to be disbarred in 1986 for defrauding his clients and for taking advantage: of a dying and incompetent man, character witnesses began to emerge. There were letters to the court from William F. Buckley Jr., Barbara Walters, William Safire, and, of course, Trump, who wrote that Cohn has been extremely loyal and extremely honest. Were Cohns partieswas his protectionreally that good?...

The Ghost of Roy Cohn
BY TERRY MELANSON · AUGUST 24, 2014
EXCERPT...
In an interview with former NYPD detective James Rothstein, this author discovered that such operations do exist and go far back into Americas secret history. Rothstein is no conspiracy theorist. He is a legend in American law enforcement and speaks from experience. Furthermore, he gave me two notable examples from his time as a detective. Rothstein had an opportunity to have a sit-down with infamous McCarthy committee counsel Roy Cohn. During this sit-down, Cohn admitted to Rothstein that he was part of a rather elaborate sexual blackmail operation that compromised politicians with child prostitutes (Rothstein, no pagination). Cohn told Rothstein that this operation was being carried out as part of the anticommunist crusade of the time (no pagination).
Rothstein also had an opportunity to speak to infamous Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis. During this conversation, Sturgis revealed one of the reasons for breaking into the Watergate. According to Sturgis, there was a Pedophile Book hidden away at the Democratic National Committee headquarters (no pagination). The book was supposed to have a list of pedophiles on the American political scene (no pagination). One can only imagine the power G. Gordon Liddy would have held over the government if he had such a book in his possession.
I asked Rothstein if Roy Cohn was a real anticommunist or just using the fear of communism to justify his sex ring. It seemed like a fair question. After all, Cohn had argued against homosexuals being schoolteachers when he himself was a homosexual. Perhaps Cohns hypocrisy extended to his anticommunism. Rothstein made it clear that Cohn was a genuine anticommunist (no pagination). Anticommunist sentiments aside, evidence suggests that the sex ring operation started by Cohn was used for more than fighting the threat of domestic communists. Fugitive ex-CIA officer Frank Terpil has claimed that sexual blackmailing operations directed by the CIA were intensive in Washington during the Watergate era (DeCamp 179). Terpil also asserts that his former partner, Ed Wilson, was coordinating one of these sexual blackmail operations (179). In a letter to author Jim Hougan, Terpil revealed Wilsons modus operandi:
Historically, one of Wilsons Agency jobs was to subvert members of both houses [of Congress] by any means necessary
. Certain people could be easily coerced by living out their sexual fantasies in the flesh
. A remembrance of these occasions [was] permanently recorded via selected cameras
. The technicians in charge of filming
were TSD [Technical Services Division of the CIA]. The unwitting porno stars advanced in their political careers, some of [whom] may still be in office. (Qtd. in DeCamp 179)
According to John DeCamp, a former Nebraska Senator and Vietnam War hero, Wilsons operation was merely a continuation of the one set up by Cohn (179). When I asked James Rothstein if Palfreys outfit was a continuation of the sexual blackmail rings that began with Cohn, he answered in the affirmative (Rothstein, pagination). The NYPD veteran made it clear that Palfreys outfit could not exist in Washington unless it was a tool for the power elite and sinister factions of the intelligence community (no pagination). Somewhere in a Queens cemetery, the corpse of a high-powered attorney is smiling in his grave.

(24,392 posts)The case occurred in 2007, when an Assistant US Attorney John David "Roy" Atchison from Florida flew to Flint for sex with, he believed, a five year old. Actually, instead of the child's mother, the former pillar of the community was online with an undercover Michigan State Police trooper.
The Strange Tale of a Pedophile in the U.S. Justice Department
Legal Schnauzer, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2010
The U.S. Department of Justice generated plenty of strange stories during the George W. Bush years. But one of the strangest involved John David "Roy" Atchison, an assistant U.S. attorney in Pensacola, Florida, who committed suicide after being caught in a pedophilia sting in Detroit.
Atchison's sad story has many connections to Birmingham and Alabama. And it raises this question: How did a guy with a shaky work record and a history of run-ins with the law get hired by the world's supposedly foremost crime-fighting organization? Did Atchison attain his lofty position because he had connections to powerful figures in the Alabama legal world?
Investigative journalist Margie Burns examines these questions, and much more, in a series of posts about the Atchison case at her blog, margieburns.com.
Burns begins with the actions that turned Atchison into a national figure in fall 2007:
This is not the story of a man who engaged in pedophilia for years or decades before being caught. It is the story of a man whipsawed by the strain of living up to a high-achieving family rooted in Birmingham, Ala., whose high-functioning connections assisted him for years in developing a career for which he turned out not to be suited. On Sept. 16, 2007, Assistant U.S. Attorney John David Roy Atchison, serving as a federal prosecutor in the Northern District of Florida, was arrested on credible charges of basically pedophilia. Atchison committed suicide in federal prison Oct. 5.
A dead pedophile might not sound like a tragedy. But Atchison was thought to be participating in a pedophile ring, and his death removed a useful informant from law enforcement resources. The question of how he was enabled to kill himself rather than being preserved for justice is one of the loose ends left hanging in his case.
CONTINUED 'though I wish it didn't...
http://legalschnauzer.blogspot.com/2010/09/strange-tale-of-pedophile-in-us-justice.html
Margie Burns detailed how the guy rose up through the GOP ranks, warts and all. When a pedophile is given authority to put people behind bars on behalf of Uncle Sam, this is a problem.
I hate bringing this up in any way, but it's important to know: These bastards are psychotic, organized and have been at it for a long time.

(18,318 posts)Which made me think of some other investigative journalist who wrote about the CIA, Iran Contra scandals.
Danny Casolaro (d 08/10/91) wrote about Inslaw, BCCI, Iran Contra, and the Octopus. Danny had been receiving threatening phone calls and informed his brother about it. A few days later he was found dead in a hotel bathtub.
Apparently, Netflix has a four part series American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders
Ill have to watch it, as I followed this back in the day.
Gary Webb (d 12/10/04) wrote the series for the San Jose Mercury News, Dark Alliance
Gary exposed the conspiracy (which it was) and he later died by suicide after the Mercury news ended his career.
Michael Rupper (d 04/13/14) x-enforcer turned investigative journalist. Also reported on the Iran Contra scandal. I went to one of his lectures years before he died.
Interesting how these scandals resurface but the legacy media is never interested in reporting anything.
