Once Trump is off the stage, which I hope happens in November, I can’t think of many who could be described as future stars of the Republican Party. I suppose Speaker Johnson could be one, but so many others are just plain unlikable—Cruz, Hawley, Greene, Tuberville, Gaetz, Scott, and horrible DeSantis. Unless the party changes drastically back into a somewhat normal party, I can’t see Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger having much success.

Trump nominating a guy from Ohio was probably the worst move he could have made vis-a-vis Pennsylvania. There's no love lost between the two states, mostly because of football. I've met a lot of people over the years from both places that have an almost irrational dislike of one another because of that.

Go figure. Maybe there's been a disruption in the traditional body politic? Maybe more DEMs than I know have moved there?

My Vermonter husband warned against going to NH or Maine. Said there were a lot of weird people there. But then, he left that part of the nation while still a young man, and spent most of his life out west.

Nashua, Manchester, Portsmouth, and smaller cities and towns near the Massachusetts border are all becoming bedroom communities of Boston and the North Shore area.

The old GOP political power structures of New Hampshire are being diluted with the influx of Libs moving up from Massachusetts.

So, we just got more solid in states we should have been winning more easily in the first place.

One thing you can bet. I doubt the DT people are giving up on that one elector in NE still "Lean D." If the only toss ups we win are PA, MI, and WI, we need that one elector to get to 270.

ME's four electors:
1 Solid D
2 Likely D
1 Likely R

NE's three
1 Lean D
2 Solid R

So it's really only Nebraska's one Lean D elector that's potentially at risk. It's a small market and I'd bank that Trump's campaign will be hitting those poor people hard.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/turnto10.com/amp/news/local/mass-gop-leader-battling-covid-19-after-attending-holiday-party-at-the-white-house

"The vice chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee is in the middle of a battle with COVID-19 after attending a holiday gathering in Washington, D.C.

Tom Mountain admits he was not a fan of wearing a mask, even months into the pandemic. "I was one of the naysayers,” he said. “I am no longer a naysayer."

Mountain shared photos with NBC 10 News from a Hanukkah party held at the White House on Dec. 9, which showed some attendees – including Mountain - not wearing a mask.“My family tried to dissuade me,” he said. “I didn't listen."
.....
According to Mountain, the three-hour party in the nation’s capital, which took place as coronavirus cases were surging nationwide, was attended by more than 100 people from all over the country.
....
"Well, lets put it this way: when I went down to Washington, D.C. for the White House Hanukkah event, I was perfectly fine,” he said. “And three days later after that event, I was in the hospital at Brigham and Women's ready to be put on a lifesaving ventilator."

Along with another trip back to the hospital last week, at least four of Mountain’s immediate family members have also now tested positive for Covid-19.

It's why she's going there next week. But they may also have more resources than Trump's campaign and can get away with shoring the state up, while Trump can't financially invest in flipping it (it's much cheaper to shore up support in a state you have a marginal lead in than it is to shift support in a state you're down). That's my guess. Harris isn't going to risk NH drifting but Trump probably realizes the payoff is not worth the money/energy with so few electoral votes (Harris can't afford to lose NH but Trump can).

Personally, I can't imagine doing a Presidential campaign schedule, 7 years from now. When you know the majority of Americans do not like you and he has to also focus on his legal felony crime problems.

But I can imagine Mike Johnson, soon, taking the floor in the House, to excoriate the Democrats for destroying a "good man" in Donald Trump. Suppression of laughter will be in evidence.

It had drifted from Likely D to Lean D. As of 8/27 CPR shifted back to Likely D, but it wouldn't take much to see it start slipping again.

And, it looks like her campaign is still trying to run up the numbers in FL and TX. I'd love to see those at least go from Likely R to Lean R... force DT to spend money defending in states that are very expensive to defend.

In NH, there were tax whiners from Mass in the southern part of the state who traded paying taxes and getting services for not paying taxes and getting few services, but even they weren't fertile ground for the MAGAts.

In the northern part, they know all about people like that family, new money who don't think they have to pay for anything. Deadbeats.

Bedock New Emg;and Re[ib;ocams pften said to me they'd rather cut off their arms than vote for a Democrat. Either there are going to be a lot of armless people up there or Mickey Mouse will sweep a lot of states.
