Mark my words: Republicans will be begging to go back to Roe v. Wade standards before this is all over

Even now they have to strawman the abortion rights argument as women and doctors wanting to "kill babies minutes before or after they are born".

Roe v. Wade already addressed that. Late term abortions were only in play in the rare case of danger to the life or health of the mother.

And now Trump is walking back these early abortion bans. "Six weeks is too little" he says. Yeah, it's almost like Roe found a great and acceptable balance between the rights of the mothers, the emerging rights of the gestating person, and the interests of the state.

Like I said, they will bring back Roe before this is all settled and call it something else.

Past the point of fetal viability, if the mother’s life is in jeopardy doctors will attempt to have the baby born alive even if pre-term. The only abortions are going to be for fetal anomalies incompatible with life.

That would be murder. Of course, they think all abortion is murder, so they pretend being born makes no difference to us…when in reality it makes all the difference.

They know that Roe had limitations as well, but they just want to gaslight and convince the brain dead base.

They want abortion done away with.

Trump, personally, has no convictions about it at all, he's probably used the convenience of it multiple times and he has no moral compass to care one bit except about the votes he can get from it or that it costs him. He doesn't give a damn about the social agenda of Project 2025 either. He wants to be in power to give himself and his billionaire friends huge tax cuts. He wants to be dictator to do things without that pesky congress. So he will do whatever his far right wing constituency wants in order to get there.

Except, his talking out of both sides of his mouth may wind up costing him some of their votes, if they think he's not going to be solid on abortion.

they are going to get their asses handed to them time after time until they are begging to be able to re-instate the protections in Roe, or something nearly like them.

They are already pretending that they are the reasonable ones. They don't want fetal murder like those crazy Democrats - they just want abortion to be limited in the 3rd trimester. Just like Roe. They don't want a total abortion ban like those crazy religious nuts. They just want abortion to be available for a while, especially in the 1st trimester. Just like Roe.

Trump is already falling back to Roe because he can tell the GOP's position is a huge loser.

It is because something went terribly wrong before and during delivery. NOT due to being killed right after being born. THAT is a LIE if I ever heard one.

The deeply red states will keep draconian laws until their health systems dry up. I don't know what will happen then. I do know that in the short term, it wouldn't be wise to invest in a new job or real estate in a deep red state. In the short term, their health systems are going to collapse.

I know they sounds extreme, but I believe it. Health care providers will leave states that require them to watch women reach the brink of death before they can be treated. It's outrageous and people who can leave, will.
