This is how Nazis took over Germany. Worth seeing for the parallels to MAGAs.

This is part 2 of a 2003 TV film produced by Canada's CBC and shown on CBS in the US. The title is: Hitler, The Rise of Evil.

Part 1, not linked here, is a biography of his childhood and WWI service.

Part 2 linked below starts with him in prison writing Mein Kampf after his failed coup attempt in Munich. It covers his release from prison and shift to using the elections to gain power. Included are the reunification of the Nazi party, getting seats in the Reichstag to control and manipulate it, refusal of main stream press to cover the threat that Hitler presents and the few journalists who try to do it independently, his strange personal relationship with his niece, manipulating politicians to be appointed chancellor, the Reichstag fire excuse for declaring martial law, declaring himself absolute leader (dictator) when President Von Hindenburg dies, sending political opponents to Dachau, shutting down opposition presses and killing their publishers, purging the SA brownshirts to replace them with the SS.

This will be Trump's US if he gets elected. It will be his goal in manipulating this year's elections and declaring himself winner if he doesn't get the votes.

It is a full length movie, 1.5 hours, well worth bookmarking to watch later.

I haven’t seen this movie, but I will do that. Thanks for bringing it up here. Unfortunately, most of us on here totally see what Trump is about. It’s nothing new to us, but it’s of total importance that the voters of this country be made aware of where we think this effort by Trump and the Republican party is absolutely going to take us.

If the voters of this country are foolish enough to vote, this guy in, he will take over this country exactly like Hitler did so fast, they won’t believe it. The worst part is it’ll be too late. Their vote for him, If it’s successful, he’s going to take us all down and we’re gonna be living in a modern day. Nazi Germany only much worse. As we have seen, he is hell-bent on revenge and anybody who crosses him, bad things are gonna happen to, according to everything he says.

He is not hiding anything. He is completely out in the open acting just like Hitler right now. If you listen to everything he says and the way he acts he’s acting as if he’s already in power and he’s threatening people just like Hitler did and if he gets the power, I have no doubt will follow through with it.

Not many people except for MAGAs in the US and RW extremists outside the US find Hitler amusing.

The CBC film is a documentary that portrays actual historical people and events that resulted in the mass murder of millions. Trainspotting is a fictional film.
There is a difference.

Hitler had learned from his failed coup attempt to work within the system.

One striking difference between Hitler and Trump is that Trump adores his most ardent Maga supporters while Hitler had the leadership of the SA murdered in order to gain favor with the military.

then of course you wouldn't find one.

Regarding a parallel with Trump's coup attempt in 2021, Trump learned from that failed coup to get his supporters in power in Congress and in positions in state governments to back him politically for taking over this year's elections. After Hitler's failed coup attempt in Munich, he also learned to work within the system to manipulate it in his favor. Hitler did not accept the election results, which you would see if you watch the linked film. He had enough Nazi Party members in the Reichstag to have them walk out on his orders, making new elections necessary. He then manipulated Von Hindenburg and Von Papen into appointing him chancellor with the threat of bringing down the government through additional walkouts. Once he became chancellor, he imposed martial law on the nation. When President Von Hindenburg died, Hitler abolished the position of President and made himself dictator.

Do you really believe that Trump adores his most ardent MAGA supporters? Trump adores the man in the mirror and nobody else. If you believe otherwise, I could make a fortune selling you some Enron stock.

Hitler, as Chancellor, did not have authority to do that

Hindenburg used Article 48 of the Weimer Constitution to rule by decree which paved the way for Hitler to gain total power.

how it was passed through the Reichstag, the fact that it was supposed to be a temporary emergency move in the turmoil after the Reichstag fire, and the fact that it did not give the chancellor all of the powers that Hitler usurped in the name of the Enabling Act.

The Reichstag fire was blamed on Communists. Von Hindenburg was a conservative who was concerned about supporting and stabilizing the republic against Communism. Both he and Von Papen underestimated the danger of Nazis vs. Communists.

Hindenburg was ruling by decree well before the Reichstag fire.

and Hindenburg 's actions all facilitated Hitler's rise to power.

You don't see such parallels here in the US.
