General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsOne poll comes out today, a National Poll at that from the NY Times/Sienna which show trump ahead by 1 point, and
Bloomberg, Forbes, Politico, newsweek, and the other so-called media clowns go into hysterics and push the out headlines like the following:
Newsweek: "donald trump gets good sign from America's most accurate pollster"
The Telegraph: "Kamala Harris suffers poll blow ahead of critical Trump debate"
Forbes: "Trump Vs. Harris 2024 Polls: Trump Takes 1-Point Lead In First Major Survey In Weeks"
Politico: "Harris momentum has stalled but not reversed. Heres 5 takeaways from the latest polls."
etc. etc. etc.
It is ONE national poll with a one-point difference. Unbelievable. They must really think the American public stupid.
While that bullshit is going on congressional republicans go on programs such as CBS face the nation to push their report that accuse the/Harris Biden team of lying about the Afghanistan Pullout.
Remember the 2016 election when our illustrious press reported that the "email investigation was being reopened" 11 days before the election? That was a LIE, but it didn't stop the media outlets from parading every right wing pundit across their screens pushing that lie almost non-stop that week, until late Friday the weekend before the election Comey quietly came out and said there was nothing new to reopen the investigation.
I think things are going to get ugly from here on out, and I have to believe the Harris team is prepared for that.
The debate will be critical, and I am pretty sure they realize they cannot rely on the moderators to ask relevant questions, VP Harris will need to take the lead.

(98,883 posts)too close to call, on one national poll, yet their headlines seem to imply some type of shift toward trump, which is false.

(10,435 posts)I listen to the malevolent idiot and realize he's speaking to and for about 50% of us who have no concern for this country. The idea of critical thinking is non-existent. Plus the amount of extremist fodder out there is mind boggling.
I hope and pray Harris-Walz takes these polls seriously and is able to make up ground in ALL the swing states.
Plus he has retaken the spotlight by spewing endless nonsense that the idiots think makes him sound intelligent. I fear many of us are that stupid. Including the MSM.

(5,213 posts)and Republican rigged polls---
The best polls were actually fairly accurate, but the talking heads ignored those
in favor of their narrative.
However, Democrats DID in fact lose the House by a handful of seats---
but not near the 40-60 seat loss that Republicans and pundits were predicting---
we only lost it because the margin was so close to begin with, but losing the fewest House seats
for the presidential incumbent party since Kennedy in '62, or so I read
This year, however, I believe the polls are failing to read all the new voters
coming out to vote for Kamala--- instead they are padding the Trump numbers,
trying to adjust for the 'hidden Trump voters' of 2016 and 2020...

(3,093 posts)This NYT/Sienna polling was constantly featured in the months before, and iirc, was consistently predicting a red wave. Am I not remembering correctly?
Jack Valentino
(5,213 posts)but I know they have been very negative against Biden and Harris all year....
and their polling metric samples have been severely criticized.
Of course--- I certainly do NOT consider NYT-Sienna to be
one of the "better polls"....so they probably were predicting the worst Democratic outcome
Jack Valentino
(5,213 posts)and they are an outlier NOW, compared with most other polls over the past two weeks.
Personally, I anticipate a plus- 3% Democratic edge in actual voting over polls,
which has been the minimum that Democrats have received in actual elections,
ever since the Dobbs decision...
Record new registrations among AA and young women voters, the polls don't find--
They WILL BE the "hidden voters" in 2024---
meanwhile the pollsters are trying to adjust for 'hidden Trump voters'....
Could end up being the worst pre-election polling in presidential election history!
