It strikes me that just as the Republican party put party before country and chose an authoritarian Strong Leader not committed to democracy, the media is putting their own interests first in not covering the imminent threat to democracy in the way that their professional duty should dictate.
Putting self before others is characteristic of a lack of empathy. How many of our levers of power will fail before our democracy fails?

Trump was convicted of 34 felonies because he was found guilty in a court of law by a jury of his peers -- not because he's a former Republican President who lost to Joe Biden. Plus, as anyone can plainly see, despite those convictions, he is not in jail.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
