I'd hope for a Palo Verde Beetle.
To the uninitiated, this is the area's greatest faunal horror: an armor plated creature that is about six inches long. It is indestructible by most means, swatting it calls for use of a hammer and anvil and considerable labor.
To add to the horror, it flies after a fashion. One knows instantly when one of the beasts lands on them.
