Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsCan just ONE person in the Media point out that Roe v Wade was supported
By nearly 2/3 of Americans. And that no one wanted it "returned to the States".
Why is this lie uncontested.

(37,395 posts)When ever they show Trump saying it, I never see it contested.

Everybody absolutely did not want that. It was actually quite unpopular for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe. And he again repeats that it has become less of an issue.

From today (re yesterday's debate):
Trump
This is absurd. The docket for Dobbs v. Jackson Womens Health Organization, the case in which the right to abortion was overturned, is filled with briefs from legal scholars saying it would be a mistake to overturn decades of legal precedent.

(24,971 posts)By pointing out that no women want to bleed out in their car and that no 12-year old wants to carry their rapists baby. But I know of absolutely no consensus whatsoever about Roe being overturned. I was literally screaming at my TV when he kept saying that.

I did a lot of screaming at my TV, too.

(12,412 posts)hard to cover everything trump lied about. And the 3 broadcast networks late night shows mocked trump relentlessly.
Anyone watching knew trump was lying and distorting facts. His supporters dont care.
Wonder Why
(7,121 posts)as that's what brings in viewers and sells papers. Everyone expects him to lie. It's to boring for them to report it. Truth has nothing to do with reporting the "news".

(13,462 posts)now or in the future. It needs to be front and centre and it needs to be women keeping it out front and centre until they "get it". There are many republican women who do not believe in abortion but have not thought of it as health care only the killing of a fetus. Yes it needs to be front and centre for them to hear what is actually happening around the country, to women who cannot get healthcare when they need it most. We may know all this but an awful lot of people have not paid attention to politics until now.

(13,462 posts)And some still have not heard it at all. It needs to be front and centre, there are still minds to change.

(11,284 posts)The only ones agitating for Roe to end were the right wing religious extremists. That's not even a majority of Christians, much less a majority of the nation. Roe always enjoyed majority support across the nation as a whole.

(2,750 posts)Prior to Dobbs, there was a saying that you could take a "private" poll in any average church on Sunday morning and more than 50% would be for legal abortion and support RvW. There has been this complete revision of history by the media and the RW since Dobbs.
I've said this before: Most people reject the notion that ANY level of government has legitimate jurisdiction over a woman's womb unless there is a viable child in there. I've never understood why anyone believes government should have such a power, and I have never heard a convincing argument as to why they should. Any argument against abortion comes down to a religious one(soul at conception argument) and therefore imposing such a belief violates the First Amendment.

(10,735 posts)Trump crossed a dangerous line with voters by saying R v Wade was not widely supported. He and Lawrence O'Donnell were both saying that the one thing candidates should NEVER lie about is what voters think. It always backfires.
