Apalachee High School in Georgia had armed campus police, their teachers had panic buttons on lanyards around their necks, the doors were locked. What more were they supposed to do?
As a result of the 9/11 attacks, we created a whole new bureaucracy, the TSA. Our luggage passes through X-Ray machines and tested for explosives. We partially disrobe and pass through metal detectors. How much has Osama bin Laden's terrorism cost us?
Now Vance and Cruz want us to pay for more school security, because they believe owing an AR-15 with a high capacity magazine is more important than the lives of children. The cost of preventing this new terrorism is caused by GOP politicians like Trump, Vance, and Cruz, who are subservient to the NRA and the gun lobby.
I don't believe we should get over it. It should not be a fact of life and we should not just move on.
