(22,983 posts)Seems like the mayor cares, but the governor not so much.
But both appears either to be afraid 😱 and put party over the well being of the people.

(49 posts)I support your aim with this post but I urge you to rethink spreading what is a false equivalence. Acid thrown on cars and a few windows broken should not be compared to acts like a boy being thrown from a building, 1000+ burned places of worship, and 91 deaths.

(132,216 posts)In quotes. I've redone my OP. It is the same gears in place 1. Identify a group to be scapegoated. 2. Accuse them of atrocities. 3. Stir the pot. 4. Attack physically.

(22,695 posts)is the same as the destruction of thousands of Jewish businesses and the rounding up on tens of thousands.
While what is happening in Springfield is not acceptable, but it is not close to being the same and to state it is insults the memory of what Jews experienced under Nazi rule.

(9,993 posts)That being said using a infamous event in history where violence perpetuated against a minority due to political forces to describe some of what is happening now is a worthwhile endeavor. History does rhyme. I think it is entirely worthwhile to take this time to revisit the history of Kristallnacht, the night of crystal, or the night of the broken glass as it is colloquially known.
The Night of Broken Glass, Never to Be Forgotten
Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, was the Nazi dictatorships declaration of war against German and Austrian Jews and, implicitly, against Jews living anywhere in the world. Across Germany and German-annexed Austria on November 910, 1938, the Nazis staged spectacles of vengeance and degradation that shattered far more than glass. For Jewish communities, the extreme hatred unloosed on them made clear, for anyone with eyes to see, that this was a regime capable of anything.
This is well worth the time to read it. I would though caution anyone when comparing the events that led up to WW2 and what happened in WW2 with current events to take into account the magnitude in difference between them.
