Des Moines Register Poll: Trump leads in Iowa by just 4 points

A new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows that Trump leads Vice President Harris 47% to 43% among likely Iowa voters — a far slimmer margin than the 18-point lead the former Republican president enjoyed over Democratic President Biden in late spring.

Interesting idea, but not mentioned in this poll. SharonClark Sep 2024 #6
I seriously doubt it. Six weeks ago most Iowans couldn't have named the Minnesota governor; rsdsharp Sep 2024 #7

The Des Moines Register poll is considered the gold standard in that state.

But let's look at some recent red state polling. 5 points or less in Florida and Texas. 4 points now in Alaska and Iowa.

I think that bodes well for the swing states. Something is connecting for Harris in groups that are not necessarily Dem leaning.

Kennedy polled 6% of likely voters and he will remain on the ballot but I suspect most of that 6% will go to trump.
It should help down ballot races, though.

The states do border each other and Minneapolis and St Paul are near the bottom of the State. Is there part of Iowa in the Minneapolis TV or radio market?

I couldn’t, and I’m probably far more politically aware than most Iowans. There is a (largely) friendly rivalry between the states, although I’ll note that Minnesotans often refer to us as Idiots Out Walking Around.

I’d like to see the numbers on the Congressional races. That might tell us more about what might actually happen here.
