Has Antonio Villaraigosa gone full circle?

We have just learned that ex gang member Antonio Villaraigosa has decided to join the "Fix the Debt" campaign. After working to profile himself as a progressive fighting for the middle and working class, he has now decided to join the gang of Fix the Debt Oligarchs. Why? His declared intention is to "fix politics [that] is broken." He derides the 13,000 who signed the petition for him to leave the Fix the Debt Gang as orthodox ideologues who don't know what is right in politics, while he himself is a man of reason willing to give a little by clipping social security and medicare. --Well, when you join the Oligarchs your thinking becomes "it's necessary to impose austerity on the disabled and retirees, because the wealthy are experiencing austerity when they have to pay their fair share of taxes." This is a sick joke: for billionaires to get a couple of billions less is not parallel to social security recipients having to tighten their belts even more.
