Sorry, and I am afraid if I click on a thread it will be a Jimmy Dean sausage commercial.

(11,304 posts)and is very entertaining to watch. She cooks alot with butter way to much butter. But I like watching her because she is entertaining and I don't need the diet police. Yes am heavy but even I can't take some of her cooking. It's really down home cooking. Watch her sometimes.

(30,947 posts)I love watching her on Food Network, but her cooking is off the wall when it comes to fatty foods. Though I am guilty of using tons of butter on all vegetables. And my baked potato is smothered in butter.

(113,229 posts)children alone, and suffering from panic attacks and agoraphobia, created a catering business so that she could support her family without leaving home.
she didn't have it easy in early years, and yet managed to create quite a business. I don't like some of her sponsors, but I don't feel the need for tar and feathers the way some people seem to.

(4,608 posts)(Followed by burst of raucous laughter). One-time agoraphobic Southern TV chef and astute businessperson, just announced as diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, drippin' in annoying Southern charm and with an accent you couldn't cut with a cleaver or chainsaw. Mix Velveeta, Marshmallow Fluff, crumbled Hostess Snoballs, heavy cream, peanut butter, a dash of Gatorade and 18 sticks of butter, then deep-fry for a delicious surprise.

What I can't figure out is why some lady who drowns her food in butter is such a big deal.
For full disclosure, I am one who has been known to buy $20 of scallops for friends and drown them in garlic butter before throwing them on the grill.

(60,010 posts)I think she's based out of Savannah, where she has a famous restaurant.
I have watched her show about 6 times back when I had tv, her southern is a bit too southern for me to listen to
( and I love the South and the people)
but I have to admire her rags to riches story.

The theme of her show is southern cuisine which includes frying, butter, fat, bacon, etc.

(82,383 posts)Apparently since she prepares southern foods (she's hardly the first one, or responsible for the high fat content) on a cooking show, and now has diabetes, that's supposed to prove something about southern foods and make her responsible for various and sundry evils that already existed.

(50,130 posts)She hid her diabetes for three years while continuing to push foods that contribute to diabetes and can exacerbate the disease -- while making money money money.
Then this week when she announced her diabetes, she revealed her new contract with a pharmaceutical company to hawk a diabetes med that carries a strong risk of cancer. Ka-ching.
It's all about the greed and the hypocrisy. She probably ought to retire.
