Key Republicans' shrinking leads could give Democrats new path to Senate majority

(Salon) While most analyses have identified Montana as the most likely tipping point state for control of the Senate in 2024, there are races in Texas, Florida and potentially Nebraska that appear about as competitive as Montana and could give Democrats a path to the majority.

With Democrats defending Senate seats in swing states including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada, Democratic Sen. John Tester’s race to keep his seat in Montana appears to be the most likely pickup for Republicans’ Senate effort this year.

....(snip)....

In Texas, Democratic Rep. Colin Allred trails Republican Sen. Ted Cruz by just four points, 43% to 47%, according to a recent Texas Public Opinion Research survey. Other recent surveys have found similar results, with a Morning Consult poll finding Cruz ahead by five points and an Emerson College and The Hill survey finding Cruz leading by four points.

....(snip)....

Florida is the other state where a Democratic challenger, Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, is hoping to unseat a Republican incumbent, Sen. Rick Scott.

In the race, Emerson College and The Hill polling found Murcarsel-Powell trailing Scott by just one point earlier this month. Other surveys have found a larger margin for Scott, with a Redfield and Wilton Strategies survey sponsored by The Telegraph finding a three-point lead and a Morning Consult survey finding Scott leading by five points. .............(more)

The US Senate keeps me up at night sometimes as much as who holds the White House.

So important.

I have to use "if" still, but if Harris wins the Presidency, and loses the Senate, we all know what will happen. The magats will gleefully stop any legislation. Voting rights act. Women's reproductive rights, and forget any proposals to overhaul the SCOTUS .

And what Republicans always do if they can stall Dems......after preventing Democrats from helping Americans through that legislation, they will then use that failure as a weapon in the midterms, and 2028.

That situation will also create a situation where R's can use that "failure" weapon to add their own draconian amendments to bills and extort them to accept them or they will pout and whine and not allow any vote

It’s 43-47. Which also says 10% are undecided. Could go either way depending on how those undecided voters vote. Go Colin!

In which Democratic Party candidates are taking it to them, calling them cowardly in a manner not becoming to a campaign. The voters are being deprived. I would not want to be such a candidate who feels that they do not have to answer to the voters at all, and assume that just because there is an R after their name, that they win re-election.

With FREEDOM, Abortion Rights, Health Care, Social Security, etc., on the line, MAGA/Republicans need to explain to the voters as to why they are the BETTER candidate. If they will not, vote them out of office.

because they worried that a lot of republicans who hate trump, are not going to vote. By saying they are voting for the Democratic party candidate, they hope to get others to vote for house and senate races.

I don't think cheney, et al have a drop of blood in their hearts for our country.
