(4,833 posts)One day, a lady had some rubbish in her car, including the print, Winter adds. I thought it looked interesting and asked if I could have it. She was more than happy to give it to me. Its been tucked away in a cupboard at home with all my other antique finds for the last 13 years.

(34,781 posts)Claw foot oak table to the curb. I asked if I could have it they said sure. They lifted into the bed of my truck.
I was on my way to my friends antique store, park out front and went inside. A few minutes later a guy came in and asked it that table was for sale. I said yep for $250. He said hed take in and he unloaded it into his van. I never touched it.
Im thrilled. with small finds.

when i was a kid we'd go to the dump in the northwoods, wi. nice stuff was put on the side. saved by dump man i think.
i have dumpster dived.
oh, my uncle saved a bunch of books thrown out + i sold most.
more luck at estate sales.
sigh. brit skips are full of great things.

i don't think that article really said what caught his eye other than he "had an eye for antiques" -- but i wonder what specifically caught his eye. who knows? maybe it was nothing other than the fact that it looked "old"
