(24,422 posts)And this is what America is supposed to be, rule of the people, byt the people. Walz is one of the people. Harris too. They've got stories like your own. Walz can fix his car, like most middle class people can do to one degree or another. Most people might not be able to change a motor, but most middle class families can change their own oil, can change tires, or even change brake pads. They don't always have time to do it themselves, but practically every working family has done some of their own maintenance on their vehicles. Nothing more normal than changing your own air filter to save a few bucks.
Self rule is what Dems offer. Rule of a king is what Republicans are running. A guy at the top of the ticket who literally brags about never having had to work a day in his life. A guy who has only known gold toilets and limos. And his running mate, a Yale kid whose entire career has been funded by tech billionaires.

(10,738 posts)...Trump can do that himself. And Trump don't need no SEC chairman.
Trump can do that himself. And Trump don't need no FTC Chair.
Trump can do that himself. Trump don't need no Attorney General.
Trump can do that himself. Think of the savings!
He has actually said this shit. And his culties all cheer and applaud.

(3,104 posts)Try to figure out if you have 'in -cabin ' filters, and where they might be located.
I've messed with cars for over fifty years and have never located one in the wild.

(28,705 posts)Down to earth. He reminds me of the dad's I knew while growing up back in the 50s & 60s
Repairing their cars, fixing their toasters, patching their child's flat bicycle tire, mowing their lawn, sometimes with an old manual mower, painting their house & trim, hanging their storm windows come fall, etc.
There was nothing like having a cold beer on hot summer days with your neighbor who oftentimes grabbed an extra paint brush, a rake, snow shovel, or wrench to help out.
My dad had a gas powered lawn mower, and a very old manual reel mower (circa 1914). I loved the reel mower. It was great exercise, wasn't noisy, and smelled great! Dad kept the blades sharp, which made the grass look really good.
Anyway, those were the days, which Governor Walz's salt of the earth demeanor reminds me of, and how even today, I think most Americans tend to be, or aspire to be.
Apologies for rambling on, lol.
I loved your ramble.
He lived only 40 miles to the north of my dumbass little birthplace town in Nebraska.
He kinda' reminds me of my dad.
