On Wednesday, I think that I realized my life-long goal of becoming an asterisk below a footnote in a journal stored in the musty basement of an old, abandoned building ..... only two be discovered by someone one hundred years from now if our species has not become extinct. The head of the state museum, accompanied by the head of the state archaeological society, came to a nearby community to study the paleo-era artifacts that my son have found, for part of a study on the earliest migrations in the northeast.
There is something fascinating about holding the tools that human beings depended on in their daily lives ten to twelve thousand years ago. In fact, when asked about when I found the first one, I said that it was on May 19, 1993 at 1:17 pm/est while I was on a walk. I had passed by a thin line of flint, thought better of it, and turned around and popped a fluted Clovis point out of the ground. I even remember my first pronouncement upon holding it: "Oh shit! Oh shit!"
Later in the day, while walking in the woods with my son and grandson, I encountered another ancient entity, popularly known as the Taijitu, to remind me that I asm an old man. While walking in the woods with my son & grandson, I tripped and fell. There was a small tree stump, hidden until that time, which broke a few of my ribs. My immediate pronouncement was an extended howl in pain.
While sitting and watching the world go by in the eternal "Now," I decided to not totally waste time. I have heard of a young artist named Taylor Swift. Indeed, I remember my daughters going to one of her concerts years ago. More, last summer when one daughter was babysitting for two young sisters, I asked theolder one, then 7, if she liked Taylor Swift? "How did you know I am a Swiftee?" was her response. Old people know these things, I said.
I am unaware if I'd ever heard any of her songs before. But I like the things I've read about her. So, last night when I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep, I decided to listen to one. In doing so, I came across the one above, with the Rolling Stones. I really liked it, and thought people here might, as well.

(75,585 posts)I twist above the waist, even a slight bit. Getting up or down is unpleasant. But it is at a level where I can deal with it.
Thank you for asking.
(Note: On fb I had posted my favorite version's of the Beatles performing "Help!" live. Laughing at John's introduction hurt, but it was worth it.)

(3,811 posts)I love that she's so appealing even to seasoned rockers like the Stones. I saw her on a British talk show with Bono of U2 and he looked like a total fan too. He looed at her like he had a big old crush.
She's a force of nature, this girl. I can't wait to see what she does next. At our age it is really nice to see deserving young people like her having fabulous success while at the same time staying true to their values. Taylor is killing it.
I appreciate her, and not just because she endorsed Kamala. She's strong but kind. She's the real deal.

of "morons?" We adopted that (morans) as a way to mock wingnutz after one of them spelled it that way on a protest sign.
I think that was way back in the bush years.
Didn't the original sign say "Get a brain morans" ?

(25,954 posts)We recently returned from a trip to the Orkney Islands, along with other stops, where we saw the remnants of neolithic villages and structures. Stone abodes, tools, and other creations expertly engineered and crafted by people 4500 years ago. Not so different from us now - only the technology. I think I've settled on that time and place as when I would have liked to roam the earth. Alas, there were not signs of riding horses, which I would have missed. They did shepherd cattle, pigs, and sheep. They appeared to have eaten well from both the nearby sea and freshwater. Skara Brae.
Near where I live in Washington state, Clovis points dating back 12,000 years as you say, were discovered. The skill of our forbears is awe-inspiring!
Some pooh pooh Ms. Swift. Who is a celebrity to persuade elections? I am most impressed with her philanthropy, and her stance for female power. Some of her songs move me and catch my ear, as well. Her real-life realtime love story with Travis Kelce is quite compelling. ❤️
Congrats on your finds, my asterisk friend!

(75,585 posts)is public in endorsing VP Harris. I suspect this will influence more people than, say, Hulk Hogan. And influencing people to vote is a good thing.
My cousin told me about her donations to charities. That, too, is a good thing.
Although my potential future status as an asterisk to a footnote may not be the definition of "celebrity," I am also telling people to vote for VP Harris!

(6,033 posts)... I asked a young trick or treater who she was supposed to be. She looked at me like I was crazy (or maybe a dotard) and replied Taylor Swift. Oh, yes, of course, I should've known. But didn't.
My kids tell me that music didn't stop when the Beatles broke up. Like I never listen to the Plastic Ono Band! (I did surprise my youngest daughter back a few years. I was driving her to a medical appointment when a song came on the radio. I said I liked Pink, and thought she was a serious artist. After the appointment, the doctor came out and said, "I hear you like Pink!" She was about half my age, and seemed impressed that an old dotard knew who Pink was.)

I remember when Ms. Faithful recorded the song before the Rolling Stones. A kid in my school sang it at an assembly. I ran into him at calling hours a few years back, and he came up to me and said, "You might not remember me ...." I started singing that song. He was surprised I remembered.
