(22,593 posts)Holy cow, I missed that completely! It's probably just as well, because I might have said something to get myself in trouble, but damn!
I absolutely agree that she's a National Treasure and deserves the Medal of Freedom. That documentary was amazing, and I hope everyone is able catch it one way or another.
I honestly wasn't sure how interested I was in the whole thing, but I decided to give it a shot and got pulled right in. It was worth every minute. Turned out there was a lot more to that story than I realized.
I ended up watching MSNBC for 4 straight hours tonight. First, Rachel was on in Chris Hayes' usual time slot, which was a nice surprise. At the end, she introduced the documentary, which ran for 2 hours. That was followed by The 11th Hour, with Ali Velshi sitting in for Stephanie Ruhle. Ali kicked the show off by interviewing Rachel about the film and having a nice chat with her about it. It was a great night of TV, imo.

(3,832 posts)that a cable company wouldn't carry that station. Glad there is internet access for people to see this.

(22,593 posts)I'm pretty sure most cable companies carry it.
There was one time when my husband and I were traveling somewhere out west (Colorado, maybe?) that the hotel we were in did not have MSNBC but did have Fox News. (I was mad as hell!) So I guess some don't.

Regardless, Rachel Maddows work is superb as usual, and I thank you for giving us the link.

(43,167 posts)about all the craziness her husband was involved in?
First, though, Rachel said she thought Svetlana was the "star" of the show.
Certainly she was very significant, especially because she knew all along what an incompetent, corrupt bunch of buffoons her husband was involved with. He was so far in the cult, though, that she could not get through to him.
The most touching moment to me was the apology and how gracefully Hunter accepted it. Lev certainly understands and is regretful for what he did.
Throughout the show, whenever they would show Joe Biden, I was so thankful that he was there to beat trump and pick up the pieces. He has straightened out so much of the damage trump did. I also thought about how handsome and presidential he looks, while we have trump with all the goofy looks on his face, acting like a buffoon. He is such an embarrassment.

So glad Lev was finally able to escape the Trump cult.
He should have listened to Svetlana all along.

(2,501 posts)It was fascinating. I didnt realize that Lev was actually a true believer, at least at first. He seems to be genuinely remorseful. His apology to Hunter, and Hunters gracious response, was very moving. The thing that really stood out to me in the documentary was the sheer ruthlessness of Trump and his minions, especially Giuliani. These people are literally capable of anything.
