Americans Pay The Most For Worst Health Care System Of Wealthy Nations

It's American exceptionalism of the worst kind

By NewsHound Ellen — September 21, 2024
Unless you’re extremely wealthy and live in an elitist bubble, you probably don’t need a study to tell you the American health care system is not working. But you may not have known just how poorly it stacks up to other wealthy countries.

From CNN:

Compared with nine other high-income nations, the United States ranked last overall this year, with a lower life expectancy and higher rates of death and disease despite spending the most on health care, according to the report, released Thursday by the independent research group The Commonwealth Fund.

The three top-performing countries in the report were Australia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

I truly believe that if we take control of the congress and presidency and investigate the courts we will move to universal health care for all...........because health care is a right............... and not a privilege .............just saying..............

and out of the developed wealthy nations in the world the US is the only one that doesn't...the only one. But the reality is that our current situation is a cash cow worth billions for the insurance industry and so the outlook for any significant change anytime soon is highly doubtful.

It’s the corporatization of the entire healthcare system. Hospitals, medial practices, medication, everything (including veterinary services, now). If you’re as old as I am you might remember when nursing was a good paying job where they worked regular 8 hour shifts, or when emergency rooms didn’t turn away patients (although some tried, they were usually crucified in the media when they did). This is what happens when you privatize public services.

So when in the hell are we going to finally fix it? FOR EVERYONE? Answer: Not in my lifetime. And probably not in yours.

People have brought up this subject many times for discussion. Some people, such as Bernie Sanders, spent many hours/days/months creating a plan and actually had a good proposal that might work. But he got shot down big time. Politics stopped him. I have not seen any one, or any party, even come close to fixing this. WHY is that?

Yet, we, the richest country on the planet, who continues to spend billions every year helping others, absolutely refuses to help our own people, and fix it forever. We all have one thing in common. We all will experience some healthcare issues before we die. So why not make it a right to healthcare? It's so out of control now, I doubt anyone can fix it

How does any of this make any sense? Logically, one would think this should be a priority. Right? And to make it worse, people on the "right" continue this insane idea to destroy it all together. It's unbelievable.

Again for the richest country in the world, why are we not fixing this issue?

On edit, I have had this posted for 12 hours, with no posts. That just goes to prove no one really gives a shit about healthcare. Beware, you will need it someday, and may not be covered. Or still, pay an exorbitant amount that the insurance company wont pay.
Why wait. FIX IT NOW!!!

Any attempt to fix it will of course be opposed by republicans as socialism because they have no real solutions except to scare people with buzzwords. The question isn't socialism, communism, or whatever other political philosophy they have no understanding of. The question is, why continue doing something that is clearly not working?

Until every last lobbyist had been run out of the beltway, maybe even the whole mf-ing country, nothing can be done about healthcare.

They either admit the truth that we’re just cash cows for the rich or lie about it. They just lie, like any addict. They’re addicted to their money flow and don’t want it to stop.
