Christmas Advertising Already?

I'm watching the San Diego Padres (my team) and the Chicago White Sox and I just say an ad for "Holiday Market at Petco Park 2024." C'mon, it's the last nine days of September and they're already advertising for Christmas. It used to be you'd see Christmas ads after Thanksgiving and then it moved to just after Halloween and now before October 1st. I know the last three months of the year are traditionally where general businesses usually make their profit but at least they could keep it from overlapping other holidays, couldn't they?

exciting. Too early and I think it actually negatively impacts the profits because it turns people off. I’m all for stores making their profits the last part of the year, but 30+ days was so successful in the past. Let’s go that route again!

7. It's an event that requires tickets.

Since tickets are limited and required, it makes sense that they would be advertised ahead of the event.

It's not really traditional holiday advertising. It's advertising for a specific event that starts a few weeks before Christmas.

There are other similar holiday events around here that have been going on longer by they don't start advertising, IIRC, until after Thanksgiving.

That was in 1987. The whole point of A Charlie Brown Christmas was that it had become to commercial. That debuted in 1965. So this isn’t new.

Halloween’s decorations, costumes, and candy.
Thanksgiving is one dinner.

Xmas is huge money on big ticket items from coast to coast and beyond. Money, money, money, money, money.
