I posted this in the early AM on Saturday and I am reposting it on Sunday evening to maybe get more views. I think that this is an important topic. Rachel Maddow and others have been working on this and I think it needs more attention. Even if we win, Trump and MAGA are going to try and throw a monkey wrench into the works and try to deny the election. We must be prepared. We live in dangerous times.

(1,492 posts)This clip is about how local MAGA election workers in Georgia are going to try and block the election process if Trump loses. This is important. I think that we are going to win but it will be close. That said, when we *do* win, Trump and MAGA are going to deny that they lost. They will try to destroy the election results and block the counting and certification process. Democracy is in danger and we must be prepared. This clip is just over 10 minutes long and is worth watching.

(22,456 posts)The more the public knows about this, expects this, sees this coming, and is talking openly about this, the less of a chance the rightwingers have at pretending the problems they will be starting are surprises! that no one can control, and if it IS all openly talked about, they may even not want to try a few of their tricks in the first place.
That's where the Dept. of Justice could do a world of good crime deterence by coming out openly and firmly and warning, in no uncertain terms, about how anyone carrying out these plans WILL BE PROSECUTED.
A lot of people either don't realize how much the rightwingers are planning on disrupting the elections in the hope of tossing the election to trump somehow (and we know from direct experience they will stop at nothing) or, those people are just burying their heads in the sand and telling themselves everything will just work out fine somehow.
I'm confident we CAN overcome whatever the rightwing machine throws at the elections, but I also know that unless we're prepared to face it all immediately, honestly, and head-on, we would be giving them leeway that we should never give them.
We see it happening right in front of us and we should continue to call it out at every chance we get.

(1,492 posts)I think that you are very right on all counts. Especially about the Justice Department. We need to get ahead of this issue before Election Day. The DOJ and other entities need to prevent as much of this as possible, as you say. I kind of want Joe Biden to come out on this issue. The last thing that he does as President should be the lawful and peaceful transfer of power over to Kamala Harris. Since the Supreme Court has given the President Imperial Power, Joe should use some of that power to ensure that our elections are fair and lawful.
And the DOJ should be working independently on this issue, as you suggest. Marc Elias and his team should not be the only ones working on this. We do need the DOJ and the Federal Government working with the States and the Localities to make sure that Trump and his MAGA criminals don't try to destroy the election process and ruin our democracy. Thanks to Think. Again for commenting on this thread. Here are a couple of links for anyone that needs to know more about Marc Elias and his team at Democracy Docket--

(28,510 posts)to all of the other elections on the ballot? Congress, state and local offices, school boards, initiatives, measures, propositions?
Invalidating ballots wouldnt just affect the presidential race. It would throw the entire state into chaos.
