(43,334 posts)As the Palestinians have never had a charter that calls for the destruction of the state of Israel, neither have the Lebanese.
It's more accurate, imo, to call this the Israel-Hezbollah war, the way we called the war in Gaza the Israel-Hamas war.
The Lebanese of Lebanon are not attacking Israel, it's Hezbollah attacking -- there are no Lebanese terrorists -- so it's not a war on Lebanon but on Hezbollah occupying Lebanon. There's a difference.
Haifa has an Israeli airbase, one reason why Hezbollah sends missiles there.

(10,018 posts)Israel Hezbollah it is, at least for now.
It's hard to tell where the missiles are being aimed for as it does seem civilian areas around Haifa are also being targeted.

Hamas, the duly elected government of Gaza, populated by Palestinians, in 1988, called for the obliteration/dissolution of Israel. Hezbollah is NOT the duly elected government of Lebanon, just a terrorist organization that is based there.

(39,120 posts)Hezbollah is the dominant Shia party, holding 61 of 128 seats in the Lebanese Parliament.
Lebanon cannot extricate itself from Hezbollah.

(43,334 posts)Given that
a) The last election in Gaza was 17 years ago when Hamas took over. (My grandson was in diapers then);
b) only 30% of the current population was alive when that Hamas election happened 17 years ago. The other 70% were not.
c) almost 40 percent of the Gaza population as of Oct 7 was under the age of 15, according to the CIA, and more were 17 or younger when Hamas was voted in,
d) Hezbollah has funded and trained Hamas,
I'd say that non-Hezbollah Lebanese are unwitting victims of Hezbollah's taking over their country over the last ten years. And probably silent. If they're allowed to evacuate they're not prisoners; if not, they are.

(4,557 posts)Is Lebanon's dominate political party and operates their para-military wing with the full blessing of the Lebanese government. The people of Lebanon are not prisoners of Hezbollah, they actively empower them (as a group, obviously there are individuals who do not support them).

Tweet from Hilton January 2017:
"Okay! Party's over. Let's get busy scrubbing Obama's mocacchino stain off of America!"
After routinely highlighting white nationalists and using their talking points on NRATV, former correspondent Chuck Holton is now working for the Christian Broadcasting Network (among other projects). While Holton has been at CBN for a number of years, hes grown in his role from a contributing reporter to a regular CBN contributor. Recently, Holton has been on the ground reporting on the alleged war on cops and a war on law and order in conspiratorial segments questioning whether there are more powerful forces at play during the ongoing protests against police brutality.
During his time with the NRAs broadcast outlet, Holton had a symbiotic relationship with white nationalists, continuously spread baseless conspiracy theories, and launched racist attacks, usually aimed at former President Barack Obama.

Now its undoubtedly awfully convenient that these huge caravans are forming now and are being speedily transported north just in time for the November 6 election. But the real story here is the nexus were finding between left-wing groups from the United States, Soros-funded groups in Latin America and the Venezuelan government. See the [Brett] Kavanaugh confirmation clown show a couple of weeks ago really fired up the Republican base and it may have hurt the Democrats chances to retake the House and the Senate on November 6. So these groups are falling back on an issue that played well for them earlier in the year and thats the family separations at the border. But for a party thats supposedly so very concerned about Russian attempts to influence our elections in 2016 and that dreaded word collusion we've heard so much about in the press, its telling that a bevy of left-wing groups are partnering with a Hungarian-born billionaire and the Venezuelan government to try to influence the 2018 midterms by sending Honduran migrants north in the thousands.
This is the same playbook weve seen in Europe. Its an invasion under the guise of migration.

Chuck Holton, the co-host of a National Rifle Association web series, reacted to a picture of President-elect Trump and President Obama shaking hands by writing, Photo finally surfaces of Trump grabbing a pussy.
Holton co-hosts the NRA TV series Frontlines alongside Iran-Contra figure and NRA board member Oliver North. According to the NRA, their coverage ranges from how our military and law enforcement guard against radiological sabotage, counterfeiting and terrorism, to the threat of an unstable economy and cyber warfare. (In promoting a Frontlines episode, Holton once raised the prospect of people on food stamps eating each other in the streets following an EMP attack by North Korea.)
Holtons attack on Obama came in response to a widely shared tweet authored by comedian and writer Travon Free where he wrote, No better summation of being black in America. At the highest level having to be gracious to white people who do nothing but disrespect you. Frees tweet included an image of Trump and Obama shaking hands, leading Holton to respond, Photo finally surfaces of Trump grabbing a pussy":

(18,171 posts)Well, that just proves that Israel is better prepared to deal with these terrorist attacks for Hizbollah.
Maybe, just maybe if Hizbollah would refrain from lobbing rockets and missiles into Israel, this would all stop?
Think maybe this might be true? Or were you hoping for more Israeli casualties to balance out the Hizbollah casualties?
muriel_volestrangler
(106,566 posts)and that it's just that Israel's defense (with American support) is just better than Lebanon's defense (without American support) against similar terrorist attacks?
Because if you really think it "proves" something, then other things must be equal.

No, I don't. Netanyahu would not just stop like that. It's not in his nature.
