Did you see Sleepy Don threaten John Deere (actually farmers and us) with a 200% tariff today?

..holy shit, that was stupid bad.

Sarah Reese Jones @PoliticusSarah 2h
Unprovoked In Pennsylvania, Trump attacks John Deere, "I'm notifying John Deere right now. If you do that, we're putting a 200% tariff on everything that you want to sell into the United States. So that if I win, John Deere is going to be paying a 200%."

Russell Foster A New Texas @RussellFosterTX · 1h
John Deere won't be paying a 200% tax, the American Farmer will be seeing a 200% increase in prices & maintenance costs. Why vote for a man who continues to threaten to hurt American workers like our Farmers for petty revenge? We deserve so much better than Trump.

It will never work out @hit_the_roadJax 2h
Trump: I am going to threaten you John Deere

Off camera staffer: waves frantically no

Trump: ok i will walk it back. But wait I like the idea of threatening them. You know what I am going to threaten them anyway.

interesting:

Kamala HQ @KamalaHQ
Reporter: I've spoken with economists about your tariff proposals and they say they will make items cost more in the United States—

Trump: I don't need Congress. I’ll have the right to impose it by myself

Taylor Popielarz @TaylorPopielarz
This was my question to former President Trump at his farming roundtable event in Pennsylvania today.

Sadly, a mic was not readily available, so I had to shout it from across the room and it appears Trump thought I said "Congress" when I actually said "economists."

I asked Trump about tariffs because two economists recently told me they 1) don't see how his tariff proposal would lower costs for Americans; and 2) don't think Trump understands how tariffs work.

"As a fellow Wharton alumnus, I wonder what he was doing in his economics classes,” University of Texas at El Paso Professor Tom Fullerton said to me.

Here's my recent report:

(Hey, morans, 1) ya know the Mexicans getting jobs in Mexico won't be coming into your lily-white cities? 2) guess what, AI is going to take more jobs than immigrants ever did but you aren't giving your buddy Eloon grief about that now are you? )

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday said he would apply a 200% tariff on John Deere imports if the agricultural equipment company moves production to Mexico, as planned.

"As you know, they've announced a few days ago that they are going to move a lot of their manufacturing business to Mexico," Trump said at an event on agriculture and China held in western Pennsylvania.

"I am just notifying John Deere right now that if you do that, we are putting a 200% tariff on everything that you want to sell into the United States."

Earlier this year, the agricultural equipment manufacturer announced that it was laying off some employees in the American Midwest and increasing its production capacity in Mexico, a decision that has upset workers and some political leaders.

My 1985 John Deere 1050 tractor is a Yanmar, made in Japan and painted green. My 2001 Dodge Ram was made in Saltillo, Mexico. The local Toyota Tacomas are usa made, I believe. Nothing new about offshore and onshore manufacturing. Says me.
