Aldi had American foods for their weekly specials a while back

I bought a jar of genuine US peanut butter. It was super sweet compared to our local product which is kind of savoury and salty.

When everything went low fat and gluten free, the taste gap was filled with sugar, among other things to make bland processed food more palatable. Without entering into conspiracies, we need to remember that food merchants are just that; their job is to sell 'units' not worry about our health - and they don't.

I'm lucky; I love gardening and grow much of my own food. I love cooking and rarely buy processed food beyond a few condiments.
