Country music legend Willie Nelson announced he’d support Colin Allred, D-Texas, in the upcoming U.S. Senate race against Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

“Colin Allred is running against Ted Cruz in Texas,” Nelson said reading from a prepared speech. “And I know firsthand that Colin will represent all Texans no matter their race, who they worship or who they love.”

In his message, he reminded Texans that Oct. 7 marked the deadline to register to vote.

“So, make a voting plan and bring three friends to the polls and vote for Colin Allred,” he said.

Nelson isn’t the endorsement Allred has received recently. Earlier this month, former U.S. Representative Liz Cheney, R-Wyoming, threw her support behind the former professional football player and civil rights attorney.
