(34,851 posts)But it's in a weird place. I hope it's making landfall, but any jog to the west could delay landfall by at least an hour or so.

(34,851 posts)Hurricane Helene will slowly meet its demise. Unfortunately, the storm is gonna merge with a low over Georgia. (Kinda like Sandy merged with a Nor'easter??)

(34,851 posts)The hurricane has made landfall and the action slowed down in Perry.

(34,851 posts)So, they are pulling them out of the road or simply driving on or around them in this thing:

The storm is long gone from the area and is well into Georgia. Pretty sure Tallahassee was spared.

(34,851 posts)Most people are familiar with Reed's tornado videos.
During his storm chasing career, Timmer filmed his first tornado in 1998 in Oklahoma before taking part in numerous chases of tornadoes. Timmer then observed the 1999 Bridge CreekMoore tornado, a year after his first tornado filmed, the 2011 Philadelphia, Mississippi and TuscaloosaBirmingham tornadoes, which were included in the 2011 Super Outbreak, and the 2013 El Reno tornado, an EF3 tornado which he was injured in. In 2022, he chased and filmed the eyewall of Category 5 Hurricane Ian.
Timmer is known for starring in the Discovery Channel reality television series Storm Chasers, as well as in the documentary film Tornado Glory and in the television series Tornado Chasers. He later appeared as a guest star in Jay Leno's Garage in an episode, and Storm Rising as himself with Mike Theiss, another storm chaser.

(11,005 posts)I have watched more than one storm chaser, but I've never seen any of them in a vehicle that looked like this. Glad to see someone thought of surrounding themselves with a bit more protection. But I still think they're all crazy!
I'd be hiding in the basement!
