A major outage phone service throughout the country.

Vernon has a complex problem with many parts of the country mainly the southeast. Customers are without phone service, but the internet is still available. I’m south of St Louis Mo and have only emergency (SOS)) call service. According to reports? Verizon is aware and are working to resolve this issue.

This story from Chicago local NBC station.

The Verge - Verizon’s mobile services are down across the country

Many people all over the US are experiencing outages with Verizon. Some users are reporting that their phones are in SOS mode.

Verizon is experiencing a huge outage affecting its mobile services across the country.

“During the incident we received reports from Birmingham, Foley, Montgomery, Benton, Brookland, Des Arc, Fayetteville, Hot Springs Village, Washington, Dover, Apopka, Brandon, Cape Coral, Clermont, Crestview, Fort Pierce, Hollywood, Miami, Naples, Ocala and 652 other cities,” according to a website tracking the outage.

There are also more than 100,000 user reports of problems on Downdetector. Downdetector’s outage map shows hotspots in many places, including New York and Atlanta. Based on that map, it appears as though the outages are more prevalent on the East Coast.

“We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers,” Verizon spokesperson Ilya Hemlin said in a statement to The Verge. “Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.”

The company posted the same statement to its support account on X. It is also replying to people expressing complaints; many users are reporting that account that their phones are in SOS mode.

Updates, September 30th: Added Verizon statement, updated the quote about reports of which cities affected, and noted that Downdetector shows more than 100,000 user reports.
