Believed to be a terrorist attack.
Also, missiles launched at Israel from Iran.
Too soon for more details.

(455 posts)I'm not saying we're completely peace around the world but the concept that we're closer to the war now than we were in the early 60s or the early eighties is insane.
They've tried to change it to be part of warming or Plastics in the water or something but realistically it's just silly at this point.

(22,695 posts)Than getting killed by a bomb.
Comments like this reveal the emptiness of concern for "innocent civilians". These individuals were not collateral damage, they were the TARGETS of the attack.
They are not military or government leaders, just average people on the street killed for daring to be Israelis.
The response is not condemnation but diminishment.

(22,695 posts)That these people killed didn't live next door to Netanyahu and were killed by being too close. These civilians were the objective of the attack.
The good planning of this strike was to kill civilians.

(18,613 posts)But it's reality
sarisataka
(22,695 posts)A few other realities are this incident will receive maybe a tenth the attention, there will not be any 200 post thread about war crimes and no one will call on the UN to pass a resolution.

(57,757 posts)I hope you keep that in mind during the next domestic mass shooting.

(22,695 posts)What does a terrorist attack in Israel have to do with US mass shootings?
Why do you seem to think i wouldn't consider those victims dead?
iemanja
(57,757 posts)The commonality is the lethality of gun violence.
sarisataka
(22,695 posts)Since you bring it up.I have never denied that guns are lethal (to be specific it is the bullet but I don't quibble much on terminology- call it a clip and I know what you mean)
What is it about my position on guns that is objectionable? Support for expanded background checks, red flag laws, safe storage laws, enforcement of straw purchase laws...? I have long supported reasonable gun control legislation.
iemanja
(57,757 posts)am I right?
It's only connected in that you made the accurate observation that being dead from guns is the same as being dead from bombs. I agreed with you. Gun violence killed people in Israel (I'm assuming), while it's the number one killer of children in the US. AR-15s are the weapon of choice.
sarisataka
(22,695 posts)Aa i have said in the past my position is trying to ban the so-called assault rifles is a waste of effort and political capital for a small potential return.
AR-15s and their cousins account for less than 3% of all gun deaths IIRC. We have spent years and lost elections at various levels trying to get a ban passed.
I believe that effort would have been much better spent going after the less glamorous but more broad effect laws I listed. Success on 1 or 2 of them may have saved hundreds if not thousands of lives, but instead we may myopically focused on the holy grail of an assault rifle ban.
iemanja
(57,757 posts)but somehow even that is deemed unacceptable by the courts.

(1,719 posts)Then was it not acceptable for America to fight back after 9/11? You can't just sit there and take it when your population is being terrorized by terrorists. This world punishes the weak, and being weak is a betrayal to your people, and thus unacceptable.
