Teamsters yesterday:

Pres. Biden:

Ryan Schmelz @RyanSchmelzFOX 5h
Speaker Johnson on the Dockworkers strike:
"The Biden-Harris economy has made life harder for everyone, and this administrations failure to encourage a resolution... will only exacerbate the economic pain."
Pres. Biden this afternoon:

...why aren't the unions telling Trump republicans to 'fuck' off today, like the Teamsters told Pres Biden yesterday?
It's just amazing how republicans today are being allowed to call for the president to intervene using Taft-Hartley without pushback from the unions.
Business groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are already calling for Biden to invoke the act, but that would infuriate union members just weeks before the election.
On Tuesday the Republican chair of the House Transportation Committee also called on the administration to use the Taft-Hartley law and blamed the administration for not preventing the strike in the first place. The letter, signed by Chair Sam Graves (R-Mo.) and and Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee Chair Daniel Webster (R-Fla.) pointed to President George Bushs decision to invoke the act against striking dock workers in 2002 as an example of effective action.

(12,655 posts)(A) The union strikes, supply chain is disrupted, shortages occur, other businesses have layoffs, Biden/Harris gets blamed.
(B) Biden steps in to avert the strike and pisses off the unions and Biden/Harris gets blamed.

(94,672 posts)...the owners don't care about the workers, and neither do the international teamsters leadership.
It's not out of the realm of reality to imagine them colluding to put the administration in this bind while allowing republicans to attack the president for not intervening.

(17,393 posts)Seems like the Teamsters and President Biden are on the same side here. Neither want Taft-Hartley to be part of the bargaining

(94,672 posts)...so no need for the confrontational letter.
What happened to picking up the phone, instead of this posturing against their own ally?
It's Trump republicans who would roll over them, not this Democratic president or any other. Teamsters would so like republicans to agree with them and actually support their workers, but republicans continue to present the union workers with their asses instead.
Of course we can just pretend unions don't demand fealty from Democrats in the national legislature on Taft-Hartley.

(17,500 posts)kiss those Retrumplican asses, instead of kicking them.
As long as it's a pimply, white ass that represents racism, fascism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy, a lot of Teamsters will gladly pucker-up.
The Retrumplican Party has a 100 years history of screwing Labor, but it's the Dems that need to "fuck-off"?

(17,500 posts)and then bitch when Retrumplicans screw workers.
It's the Face-Eating Leopard Party come to reality.
Whole lot of truckers glued to AM Radio for hours each day. They've bought the Retrumplican propaganda hook, line and sinker.

(94,672 posts)...claiming this is on Pres. Biden.
Nothing about zero daylight between the union workers and the President.
What do these news entertainers do all day when they're supposed to be gathering information about what they're blabbing about like they know something?
