and I have had a heated discussion regarding the power Biden had or doesnt to get Teamsters back to work.
Mr Ninga says Biden can use executive order and claim the strike harms national security and or claim anything he wants to as President.
I say Pres Biden has no leverage to get workers back on the job.
Thoughts?

(21,320 posts)as i. posted last night, i believe the effects of/response to the ILA strike is going to have a much larger effect on the election than last nights debate.
I believe this is the ace-in-the-pocket that trump has alluded to for some time. I think this is why vance was so emphatic about bringing the jobs back. As the effects of the strike develop (we aint felt anything at all yet) i expect a real drumbeat to start.
ILA president Harold Daggett is a maga trumper, and isnt going to settle for anything till after the election
id bet $10 on that easy, and i really dont have $10 to lose.
on edit: i think Biden has to tread VERY carefully here, and i dont know what advice i could possibly give. He can potentially intervene and save Xmas, but face cries of hypocrisy. He can MAYBE find a way of essentially embarrassing the ILA/ports back to the table. He can do nothing and face cries of destroying the economy.

(2,884 posts)he could go to court and seek an injunction claiming that the strike endangers the national health or safety. The bottom line is he would have to convince a judge. He cannot act unilaterally.
