VP Harris is making a stop in my home town tomorrow - birthplace of the Republican Party - Ripon, Wisconsin. It's a tiny town deep inside the reddest part of Wisconsin. Will be interesting to see what she has to say, but clearly the campaign thinks it's important.
RIPON, Wis. (WBAY) - The birthplace of the Republican Party will host Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris as she visits Ripon Thursday, addressing supporters at Ripon College.
She’ll be joined by former congressman Liz Cheney
On the eve of Vice President Kamala Harris visiting Ripon College there’s a ton of excitement especially among students who say the announcement came as a big surprise, that the location would even be considered for a campaign event.
“I don’t think this would be a place for her to just come out of nowhere. I’m very much surprised a person that high ranking in this type of campaign would be here in Ripon, Wisconsin,” sophomore Myhkia Johnson said.
“I think it’s a huge thing. I mean, this is the birthplace of the Republican Party and she’s coming in here to say her thoughts, and I think that’s huge and it’s great for the Ripon College campus since we have to get our name on the board out there and I think this is a great thing nationally for us,” sophomore Thomas Geocaris said.

Dear Ripon College community,
The Harris for President Campaign recently reached out to conference services to inquire about the College’s willingness to rent space for a campaign event on campus on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024.
As we believe it is important to foster political discourse, civic engagement and thoughtful and respectful exchange of ideas, we have agreed. This invitation-only event will take place late Thursday afternoon on campus. The Harris for President Campaign has agreed to extend access to this opportunity for Ripon College students, faculty, staff, retirees, Board members, and the greater campus community — regardless of political affiliation.

Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Georgia Wednesday to comfort local residents and witness the "extraordinary" devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene first-hand. Visiting a storm-ravaged neighborhood, Harris vowed, "We are here for the long haul."

Ripon College believes it is important to foster political discourse, civic engagement and thoughtful and respectful exchange of ideas, as such we were approached and have agreed to host a Harris for President Campaign event.
While we all have our own personal political opinions, Ripon College does not endorse political candidates. These are unique opportunities afforded to our entire campus community and we can think of no better venue to host such a visit than an institution of higher education.
...we're ahead, but it close and essential.
This visit is about peeling off enough republican votes to dilute the vote in these red areas, so we'll all have to bear up to that.
Hope they make it there.
