Donald Trump Chased Over Unpaid Debts for His Rallies

Published Oct 01, 2024 at 5:07 AM EDT

Authorities in Erie, Pennsylvania, are still seeking $40,330 from Donald Trump's presidential campaign to pay for assistance they provided for his 2018 and 2023 campaign visits, bringing the total debt five cities say he owes them to over $740,000.

snip

It is in addition to more than $700,000 of unpaid debts that four cities—El Paso, Texas; Spokane, Washington; Mesa, Arizona; and Green Bay, Wisconsin—were still seeking last month for rallies that took place between 2016 and 2019, a Newsweek investigation found.

Erie is also calculating a currently undisclosed figure related to the rally Trump held at the city's Bayfront Convention Center on Sunday, which could push the total unpaid debt figure beyond $740,330.

A 2019 report from the Center for Public Integrity found 10 city authorities, including Erie and the four outlined above, were demanding a total of $841,219 as back payments for historic Trump rallies they helped stage.

He’s raking in *millions* with his endless fundraising emails/texts and his QVC-ish crap merch sales. I’m sure the lawyers cost a lot, but not that much.

And anyway, he’s famous for stiffing his lawyers, too. Just ask Rudy.

those amounts are probably trivial compared to all the trade people he screwed during the construction on all his properties for a decade or two.........His screwing them over, and not paying them made him legendary.....After a while you would think that no company in the trades, or trade employees would work for him...........

others. Grab all the money and refuse to pay your bills. I can remember when I used to do contracting way,way back in the day that the worst ones to get to pay their bills were lawyers. Doctors weren't much better. Other professionals seemed to not be much of a problem.

On a similar note I knew waitresses who worked fine dining for years and they would always say how the big shot lawyers, politicians, businessmen etc. were the worst tippers. They'd have you working your butt off on a 4 top or more for a couple of hours and then leave you with $10. Most of the time they would just give it to the busboy who had worked his butt off clearing and watering the table. If you can't give a decent tip then take your cheap a** someplace else. Sometimes I think it's a power trip with some of those clowns like they get a kick out of wiping their feet on someone. You can absolutely see that characteristic in the Orange Ruski.

have gone to the point of informing the ones making reservations for groups that 20% or so is going to be added to the tab for the gratuity. I still see people in diners throw down 50 cents on a $12.00 meal or leave nothing at all. I even tip if I just order carryout.

Doctors would typically pay, lawyers would dawdle, bitch, put pay. It was the Uber Rich that were the absolute worst, taking 3-6 months or more to pay.......There were a number of NFL players on the Broncos that were famous for stiffing trade people. We are talking some of the top Players in the NFL......the word would get around, any many wouldn't work for them, but there was always some stupid idiot would take on the job.

Elway was different. A guy who did alot of work for him, told me, on the last day, Elway would get a couple of beers, sit down with him at a table with his check book, and ask if he had the bill ready so he could pay it right there and then......Never argue about anything, never question anything, just tell him how great the work was, and write a check.......

the ones with a little money who acted like it was a ton of money. I hear you about athletes, celebrities etc. I remember one guy I used to do work for who was quite wealthy and "retired" in his 40's. Nicest guy I ever worked for and when you saw him on the street he was just like anybody else walking around in jeans and a shirt. No fancy cars. He had beautiful homes in several places like Maine, Florida, California etc. When he would ask me to do a job for him he never wanted to hear an estimate or a word about cost. He would simply say "I trust you and you know what I want." When you were done it was like you said about Elway. He grabbed the checkbook and had you sit at the table while his wife brought some food/snacks and beverages. He never ever questioned an amount or a single detail.

The POS needs to pay his debts. I recently brought it up to someone about this. He certainly loves sticking it to the American people.

FYI: And in case anyone missed it yesterday, he won't pay overtime to anyone for any reason. Yet expects everything done in record time. What a prick.

up front, I'm also certain that the campaign promises and promises. And preparations have been made. Announcements have been made. And still no money. And the venue is stuck with having to go through with the rally on their dime(s).

They pay the minimum to get you to do the work then try to cheat you out of the rest of it. Though some of them will eventually pay without going to court. I think Trump never fully pays unless you take him to court.

It's even worse for maids, cleaning services and cooks. They are always getting stiffed if they work at the person's home or hotel.

https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/donald-trump/trump-campaign-unpaid-bills-multiple-cities-fact-check/536-a006fb89-fcc1-4aba-b558-5d14392a25bd

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has unpaid bills in at least six cities for costs associated with his rallies and campaign events over the years, VERIFY confirmed.

Those cities are: Albuquerque, New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; Erie, Pennsylvania; Mesa, Arizona; Lebanon, Ohio; and Spokane, Washington.

It’s unclear, however, whether he’s legally obligated to pay all of them. The Center for Public Integrity, which reported on the Trump campaign’s unpaid bills in 2019, said that in many cases, there are no signed contracts between the municipal governments and the Trump campaign. That means the cities may not have legal recourse to recoup those funds.

Here’s what we know about Trump’s unpaid bills in these six cities.
