She was on the phone wishing her dad a happy 82nd birthday and I said - tell him he's old enough to run for president.

She did and got an earful. Rather than laughing about it, he went on a tirade about how illegals are coming into the country and ruining everything.

My wife is really good at shutting off her brain and just letting him rant but from what she relayed to me, it was the Fox News Illegal Immigrant Top 10 list, new and improved with pet-eating.

So I'm in the doghouse for trying to be funny.

I can't wait for the birthday party this weekend.

ETA - We talked it out and she's disappointed in her dad for letting politics get in the way of a joke.

and I never remember them ever discussing politics. We were lower middle class and maybe they were just too busy making a living to pay attention.
