1. I think once the election ends, "X"'s # will drop even farther.

Perhaps a few corporate news sources will stay on, and probably the US Government, but you'll see an exodus of the Independent Journalists. And the candidates will be gone. That's a lot of traffic.

Of course, the big question is "where do the independent journalists go if not on "X"? That hasn't been settled yet. Threads seems to have some popularity here on DU.

I guess I've been avoiding the migration because you have to cultivate who you follow to keep away from the shitty side of Threads.

2. We need non-corporate social media

Anybody remember Usenet?
Or bulletin boards?

We shouldn't have to sell our identity, history, and discourse to bad actors, so they can steal our lives and manipulate us.
I still say it was Zuck and Zuckbook that gave T the EC in 2016, in collaboration with Cambridge Analytica. FB illegally shared private user data with CA so they could micro-target ads and give T the EC. They were charged, convicted, and got a slap on the wrist fine, cost of doing biz. But they got the Trump presidency and the tax breaks, etc.

There's a reason the billio tech bros are promoting AI.

The Mastodon model looks promising.

I figured after MuX fired most of the capable staff with institutional knowledge it would collapse quickly. It puzzles me that it's still running.
I think that that is worth investigating. Who keeps the lights on? Dark engineers?

His application of Afrikaner free speech standards by suspending/banning Liberals, and reinstating Q-Anon-like disruptors, couldn't be more obvious.

6. i listen to a sports related podcast.....

they are on twitter, where they keep things sports related, no politics, and all the time they are commenting on what a cess pool twitter is, how none of their replies are anything but hate spewing filth. i wonder why they don't just leave, but it is pretty much just because they have a solid user base there from before musk decided to turn it into a nazi propaganda site.

i hope they and other "non-political" types will someday finally get to the point where it isn't worth it anymore and leave.

as it is already a large amount of that traffic shown on twitter is just russian bots and fake accounts. the actual user base on twitter is probably no more than 75% of the current traffic numbers.

...haven't clicked on a single link since.

It is extremely disheartening that people who support democracy still use Twitter.

Elune is a fascist, in the truest sense of the word. He must laugh every time a democrat buys a Tesla, clicks on a Twitter link, buys a solar roof or a power wall., or signs up for Star Link.

You might as well hand him the mallet to hit you over the head with.

F#ck that guy and the rest of the fascists like Drumpty, J.D. Vance and Stephen Miller he financially supports.
