We have our first possum feeding in the back yard in almost 2 years. Descendant of Buddy?

Everybody in the neighborhood called him Buddy, this mornings roadkill
He lost his mom last fall to a dog. As far as we know, he was the only sibling that survived the winter. Buddy was missing most of his tail thanks to a dog this January. We live literally next to Fontenell Forest. Somehow he got the name Buddy. Everybody left out food and watched over him (her?) all winter. This morning as I left for work, I saw Buddy in the middle of the road. This photo was taken on our back patio last month.

and they all got along so well. I guess they all grew up together.
Very nice photo. I hope he survives.

(28,158 posts)3. Maybe buddy made a baby? It's possible.
Even if not, it's another wild creature trying to eek out an existence. Be kind, as I'm sure you will. If nothing else do it for the memory of Buddy.
I have a raccoon that hangs out here off and in I call stubbins. He lost most of his tail and was a runty, scraggly looking thing. I kind of took him in and now he's huge! He's the biggest raccoon I've ever seen. He now runs off the plethora of other raccoons that used to be a major nuisance.
The other raccoons used to beat the crap out of him. Maybe he has an attitude from that? Dunno.
