And, on January 20th, after he has done all the damage he can do, he will leave the US, stating that he is in danger from being assassinated. Just my opinion.

(4,130 posts)No more kid gloves. Judge Merchan will sentence him to what Michael Cohen got... approximately three years.
He can appeal from prison.
Plus Georgia or the feds will revoke his bail as a threat to the community and a flight risk.

(10,856 posts)A large part of his portfolio is real estate, which cannot be relocated. If he flees he will likely forfeit that real estate or any right to control it. So if he wants to live in exile penniless it is fine with me.

(17,802 posts)He owes more on those properties than they are worth. He won't be throwing anything away.
He has been salting money away somewhere since 2016. He has grifted what must be billions.
His departure will be on a diplomatic plane of a foreign state in the middle of the night. He will walk off his plane, and climb onto one parked right next to him.
And it will quietly leave.

(197,177 posts)Its risky but he has to be counting on getting consideration in at least the 34 felony convictions. First time offender, white collar crime, and hes a former President. At worst Id think he could be put on house arrest for a short period of time. He gets a standing ovation every night at dinner which he adores, almost needs.

(20,982 posts)I'd rather him face prison for his crimes. He FEARS that more than anything.

(11,056 posts)Hes stuck here. The only question is where he will be staying. A mental facility seems likely.

(16,801 posts)Normally, he should have had to relinquish that after his conviction.
Normally.
getagrip_already
(17,802 posts)Which is odd, especially with felony convictions.
My guess is they didn't want to be seen as interfering in an election. But all they would need to do is say he has to ask first.
Jersey Devil
(10,856 posts)If he fails to show up for any of his trials (assuming SCOTUS doesn't let him off the hook again) he will be a fugitive whether or not there are travel restrictions.
getagrip_already
(17,802 posts)Judicial travel restrictions are to prevent flight. Looking for someone after they are gone is difficult.
And tsf wouldn't even pause at the thought of being wanted. His lawyers would tie up the courts with motions and appeals and then their would be extradition problems.
He would care even less than snowden.
Jersey Devil
(10,856 posts)I just want to get rid of him. How that happens doesn't matter to me as long as it means we don't have to worry about him anymore.
getagrip_already
(17,802 posts)He would still be tweeting/ts'ing. He would still be doing phone interviews. He would still do rally like speeches. He would still be fanning the flames of the big lies.
The only way to shut him up is to put him in custody without electronics.

(17,802 posts)They are only tasked to protect him. Not imprison him.
They won't even turn him in if they witness a crime. They have stated before that it would compromise their ability to protect if the person under protection didn't trust them completely. They will testify if called, but they won't volunteer info if they discover something.
So no, they wouldn't stop him from walking onto a russian ambassadors jet.

(450 posts)I believe when he loses, the Justice dept / New York will act to confiscate his passports and keep him in the US to face his trials. Remember, he was found guilty of 23 felonies that he has not had sentencing yet.
Im sure this is in the works as we speak.
I am actually surprised he hasnt flown the coup already and just ran the campaign from Twitter/Fox/ Truth
.

His bail/appeal bonds are secured by some of his properties, which he would forfeit if he skipped town.
He wont flee.
