JUST IN: Fox News Proposes a Presidential Debate in Pennsylvania Moderated By Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum

Phillip NietoOct 9th, 2024, 12:54 pm

Fox News has invited both presidential contenders Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to participate in a second debate at the end of October.

The last time the pair debated each other was back in early September with ABC News as the host network. Following the event, Trump declared that there would be no future debates.

CNN has offered to host another debate on Oct. 23 — with the Harris campaign accepting the offer. On Tuesday, the network sent a letter notifying both campaigns that the deadline for them to accept the offer would be this Thursday.

Fox has offered the candidates the opportunity to debate each other in Pennsylvania on two potential dates: Thursday, Oct. 24 or Sunday, Oct. 27. Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum would moderate the proposed debate.

Last month, Trump called into Fox & Friends where he blasted Baier and MacCallum by insisting he didn’t want them to moderate a potential second debate with Harris.

The network claimed in a statement addressed to the Trump and Harris campaign that the final debate would be an “opportunity for each candidate to make his or her closing arguments” before November. And they referenced a New York Times op-ed which called for Harris to debate on Fox News.

“As made clear in The New York Times on Monday: ‘Harris Should Offer to Debate Trump Again – On Fox’ — this would present an opportunity for each candidate to make his or her closing argument,” said Fox News Media president and executive editor Jay Wallace in a statement.

Wallace added, “We’re including proposed criteria and format, which mirror those of the CNN & ABC debates; as well as data on our broad audience reach. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to the opportunity to foster informed political dialogue at this pivotal moment for our nation.”

The rules proposed by Fox states that it will mute a candidate’s microphone when the time belongs to the another candidate. Moreover, Trump and Harris will not be permitted to interact with their campaign staff during commercial breaks.

for when they tried to overturn the last election for Trump.

And ask what else does a network have to do to stop counting as a news network?

Kamala Harris would know, coming in, that the questions are likely to be skewed in such a way as to hit conservative talking points, giving Trump a big home court advantage, while she would be working uphill. On the other hand, this provides an opportunity for Kamala to speak most directly to Trump's conservative base in a way that's hard to do when only dealing with "friendly" media. For Trump, though, getting turfed on Fox could be disastrous this late in the game, because it shows that the first debate wasn't a fluke, and it undercuts him even more, even within his base.

I think she should do it. There are risks, but the benefits outweigh them for her more than for him. Whether Trump will do it remains to be seen

They have absolutely no credibility and have always shown extreme political bias in their programming. I would not trust them even with weather forecasts. To put it plainly, in my opinion they are bad people! Really bad people!

Trump agreed to the 60 Minutes interview format, then backed down. Ms. Harris did the interview.

FoxNews is known to be hostile towards non-conservatives. I would not agree to anything Fox proposes with only Fox commentators/moderators.

TFG is too scared to debate Kamala Harris again

https://www.rawstory.com/coward-trump-ripped-for-refusing-to-debate-kamala-harris-on-fox-news/

Former President Donald Trump on late Wednesday elicited mockery when he ruled out doing another debate with Vice President Kamala Harris even within the friendly confines of Fox News.

The former president made his announcement in an all-caps post on his Truth Social page.....

"What a coward!" commented the Republicans Against Trump Twitter account.

The Four Seasons Total Landscaping parody account, meanwhile, taunted Trump by posting a video of a man in a chicken suit.

SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah, on the other hand, speculated that Trump's "handlers won't let him" debate "because he will bomb horribly!"...
