If this man doesnt win, McConnell will not allow the Black lady to appoint any judges, even if Harris wins. McConnell does not believe in letting Black presidents exercise the full authority of their office.
If you care about the courts at all, Tester must win.

A group of generous donors will 300%-match every donation made to my campaign through posts like this one until our FEC mid-month deadlinetripling your impact. Will you rush any amount to help us reach our goal and send this seven-fingered dirt farmer back to the U.S. Senate?

(40,969 posts)Yes, McConnell or whoever will be a shit. I'm kind of tapped out for political donations & I hate ActBlue but I can send a little bit.

(60,186 posts)I send checks, so that the intended recipient gets 100% of my contribution, instead of only 92% when the contribution goes through Act Blue. Years ago, when I had a problem with Act Blue (their make it monthly box kept checking automatically against my will), they called me an idiot for not being able to fix it myself. The postal service may be slow, but they dont take out 3.95% of every contribution I make, and therefore, nor does VISA or Mastercard take another, similar amount like they do when they process an Act Blue contribution. Im sure Act Blue is very convenient for many, but they sure are not convenient for me, and candidates in close, big budget campaigns costing $10,000,000 or more. I sure as hell couldnt afford to leave $800,000 to be split between Act Blue and a credit card company. That could mean the difference in getting those last few votes that mean the margin between victory and defeat.

(23,880 posts)While they are supporting people I'd like to see win, the constant barrage of emails/texts that arrive because i've contributed before is horrendous. It's a turn off.

(60,186 posts)Sometimes, I respond that I might be interested in contributing, but they first need to tell me exactly (and verifiably) how they got my phone/email/address. In 98% of the cases, that usually is the last I hear from that solicitor.
Every now and then, I connect my US phone, usually turned off over here, to the wifi in the house. It bings 175 times with how some generous billionaire will match my contribution up to 15 times, so they're pleading with me, etc. etc. I think that if half our Senators/Congresspeople knew what is being done on their behalf, they'd gag in disgust. Still, if their race is tight, they might justify any and all means to get desperately needed funds. I sympathize with their plight, but I still can't stand being hit with messages and emails every 30 seconds during campaign season. The phone doesn't ring here at all except if it's someone I know I gave the EU number to, or else the Democrats Abroad making sure I voted (I did, guys!).

(60,186 posts)Plus I sent another check to victory fund. I have probably blown more than my gross salary this year in contributions to endangered Democrats. It doesnt matter. I have saved up in anticipation. It looks like my first nervous assessment was not overcautious. Some have replied back in appreciation. Some havent even said a peep of thanks. As long as they win, I dont care. Slotkin of Michigan even called once and left a message. I called back, left a message, and I havent heard a peep back. Rosen in NV keeps sending emails. So does Brown of Ohio. Im only one guy fer cryin out loud. If you want more than I think I can afford, call me and tell me why.
I want to keep the Senate as much as anyone, but Harrison and the DSCC should have their tentacles out everywhere, and if they dont have enough of them, go plead with Howard Deans wife, Judy, to borrow him from now to Election Day. Have SOMEone around who knows how to get this done.
McTurtle wont be Majority Leader even if the Republicans end up with 51 seats. It will be either Thune of South Dakota or one of the crazies. If its one of the crazies, no judge to the left of Roland Freisler has a chance of being confirmed. The only reason Trump and Vance havent said that Freisler is their ideal kind of judge is because they probably have no clue who Roland Freisler was. If they did, theyd have his picture above their desks, circled with roses, freshened daily.

(27,633 posts)McConnell will step down as the Senate Republican leader in November after a record run in the job

WASHINGTON (AP) Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history who maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November.
McConnell, who turned 82 last week, announced his decision Wednesday in the well of the Senate, the chamber where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front row seat afforded the party leaders.
One of lifes most underappreciated talents is to know when its time to move on to lifes next chapter, he said. So I stand before you today ... to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.
