https://www.americansurveycenter.org/newsletter/trumps-problem-with-mormon-voters-is-getting-worse/

It would be difficult to design a Republican candidate less appealing to Latter-day Saint voters than Donald Trump. Yet, the objections many Latter-day Saints have with Trump go beyond his boorish and self-aggrandizing behavior. His worldview is largely antithetical to the values of humility, modesty, and frugality the Church teaches. In 2016, McKay Coppins argued that Trump’s brand of grievance politics would be a poor fit for Latter-day Saints.

. . . As do Jehovah's Witnesses.

Granted those two groups are generally regarded as extreme outliers within the worldwide community of those who identify as Christians. JWs reject the notion of Jesus as divine and Mormons, of course, regard the Book of Mormon as divinely inspired scripture, in direct contradiction of Revelation 22:18, which to the vast majority of Christians is an injunction against considering any further divine communication as legitimate or having equal weight with the OT and NT.

Even if it was accurate to the "Bible" as a whole and not the words of John in Revelations Christians would be stuck: “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” (Deut. 4:2.) - so all Christians should just throw out everything after Deuteronomy.

declaring that theirs is the final and complete "Revealed Truth" from God isn't basically falling into the same self-delusion trap. (It's "Revelation" by the way, not "Revelations".)

It's particularly interesting that certain religious groups are willing to extend a degree of tolerance to those they perceive as having proceeded them in figuring out the "Truth", because they hope that their predecessors will "catch up" to them, once the new and improved version is properly explained to them. This is why a lot of Christian groups are somewhat accepting of Jewish people. Because, of course, they will someday come to realize that Jesus is the fulfillment of everything that was promised to them in the OT.

The majority of hardcore Christians are less accepting of Islam because they see that faith as the blasphemous "adding on" that scripture warns against. Jesus is the end of the road and you don't need to go further as far as they are concerned.

That tolerance towards what are seen as one's religious fore bearers exists within Islam, as well-- at least philosophically, if not always in practice. Judaism and Christianity are valued as building blocks to Islam's final "Truth" and have been afforded certain legal protections in some Muslim predominate cultures. The Baha'i Faith, which came after the "Final Knowledge" shared with Mohamed, has been persecuted because its existence suggests that God wasn't entirely pleased with their interpretation of his wisdom and commands.

As far as I know, people of the Baha'i Faith aren't currently engaged in any persecution or condemnation of any other religious group. That might change, of course, if someone comes along claiming to be the latest (and final) prophet and basically tells them, "Yeah, you guys came so close. But there are just a few things you missed. . ."

• He boasts endlessly about his good works (for the wealthy), and
• Nobody spends more to entertain his dear friends, nor give back more than he receives.

You want virtues? They're endless because they're fictional.

I a series of ads in one post that hit pretty damn hard on the 🇷🇺 ❤️ Putin love ❤️🇷🇺

I don't pick the ad topics. I've posted often about issues, and I guess that they're what you discuss with friends and acquaintances.

https://democraticunderground.com/100219548864

https://www.buzzfeed.com/morgansloss1/republicans-voting-for-kamala-harris-share-why

But if the people with the ad-meters want to whack that sleazbag and his sidekick, fine.

Such things point out the "he that smelt it dealt it" projection ... "Every accusation is a confession" and even though we at DU knew it years ago, it has been slow to penetrate that "mass unconsciousness" ... probably hidden by the smoke screen of media.

Old tale, can't vouch for it, but as the story goes, he and several Air Force guys would occasionally travel to Utah on various duties. On Sunday mornings, they would plant lawn chairs in the front yard of their rental, drink beer and smoke cigars, dressed in hazmat suits, while the local Mormon populace headed for church. He was a bit of a loose cannon, pardon the pun, so I wouldn't doubt it. I cannot imagine the looks on the faces of those nice, neat, polite people, subjected to that bunch of heathens. Good thing they weren't Navy guys or that would have been real trouble.

It was the Cold War in the mid-80s. Miller did not belong at the FBI. LA was where there was action with lots of Russian emigres. Though Miller – the father of eight kids – spoke fluent Spanish and had graduated from BYU, he could not cut it. He lost his badge. He would spend hours slumming it at 7-11, eating candy. He was assigned menial tasks. He was disciplined by his Church for marital infidelity He was on his way to being fired by the FBI.

Enter Svatlana Ogorodnikova, a Soviet émigré. She was previously handled by another LA agent named Hunt who tried to recruit her a few years earlier, and whom she slept with. Miller took her over as a numbered asset, and began planning to save his career through her, in what he described as his “blaze of glory.” Miller couldn’t resist having sex with her (as Hunt had) as they went forward with his plan.

In August 1984, Miller and Svetlana went on a joyride, heading from LA to San Francisco by car. They got drunk on the way up, a first for Miller. When they arrived, Svetlana went into the Soviet Consulate while Miller waited in the car. Svetlana reportedly dangled some classified information Miller had given to her.

The FBI established surveillance on the couple the following month, as they were planning another getaway to Austria to deliver classified documents to the KGB. By this time, Miller sensed he was being watched.

Some time back, I had as wonderful neighbors a lovely older couple who were mormon (saints, as they said they preferred to be called). Their proseletyzing of me was very low-key, inoffensive, and amusing. One of the things that cracked me up was that the woman drank diet coke, seeming to believe there was no caffeine (as oppsed to no sugarr) in it. I never pointed out otherwise.

Of course, the lds itself has no problem making money off alcohol, caffeine, and gambling.

Critical thinking IS NOT one of their strong points. After all, believing the ridiculous Joseph Smith story proves that point. Mormon children are indoctrinated at very early ages. So much so it probably makes Imams running Islamic madrassess jealous....
