Study finds conservatives more anti-democratic, driven by two psychological traits

https://www.psypost.org/both-siderism-debunked-study-finds-conservatives-more-anti-democratic-driven-by-two-psychological-traits/

A recent study published in Communications Psychology has found that anti-democratic tendencies in the United States are not evenly distributed across the political spectrum. According to the research, conservatives exhibit stronger anti-democratic attitudes than liberals, and this difference can be partially explained by psychological traits, specifically right-wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation.

Conservatives in general tend to be much more focused on social status, especially their social status, and EVERYTHING else comes as a consequence of that. There's a reason that narcissism tends to be primarily a conservative trait (along with sociopathy and antisocial characteristics). The man is the dominant person in his house, the employer is the dominant person in his work structure. In religious terms, conservatives tend to make up the overwhelming number of deacons and prelates, and the heads of industries are usually conservative, and of course politics tends to attract conservatives in droves. Even when such people are not at the top of the hierarchy, they are usually not far from it.

Liberals, by and large, are problem solvers, and usually tend not to have as much ego or be that interested in social status, save as a means to solve problems. They favor competence over confidence, which is part of the reason conservatives don't like liberals. The base template of the conservative is the used car salesman, and there are a great number of people who are like that.

At the time, it focused more on race and the likes of Agnew and Wallace. Reagan was the guy who tied that to government with the black people buying Cadillacs with welfare trope.

American conservatism isn’t a political bent. It’s a psychological one. Democrats have been trying to negotiate policy with psychologically dysfunctional creeps for quite some time.

And just tonight I came up with this nugget: The Republican Party is the WWE of politics. Feel free to share that one!
