My younger daughter in Frankfurt just sent six fabulous photos

Five of them were spectacular shots of wildlife in Southern Africa, where she went with her man and two daughters a few weeks ago.

But the prettiest picture of all was the familiar green absentee ballot envelope from Dallas, which is now empty, because one more vote for Colin Allred and Kamala Harris is on its way back to Dallas to make the improbable not only probable, but reality.

We could use a lot more of it and I'm hopeful.

Although esentially in CA which will probably not have a direct effect on the outcome.
But we don't want Garvey to sneak in.

When Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio called asking for a contribution, I asked him if he knew how many of us Americans Abroad he thought there were. He didn’t know, but he guessed between 250,000 and 300,000. No wonder Congress doesn’t care about us. I was shocked. There are NINE MILLION Americans Abroad.

If you conservatively estimate 3 million Democratic voters willing to contribute $33 each (I’d bet it’s way more), that’s $100 million in contributions they’re ignoring.

You’ll see us set up in most European cities before any election season, helping to register any American who isn't, and providing info on how to vote from overseas for those who don’t know.

It won't put Colin Allred into the Senate, but they're very cool in their own right:

Thank you so very much for sharing her photos. Does she work for National Geographic? Those are awesome and so professional.

In another life, maybe, she might work for National Geographic (especially if Murdoch sells it to someone else). In reality, she is one of Europe's most highly respected (and paid) attorneys in her field. She makes many multiples of what I do, and thinks nothing any more of going over to New York City (she lives near Frankfurt) to visit her sister or down to Zanzibar to visit friends--for the weekend! She has two little girls, 6 and 4, whom she took with her and her man to Africa for the experience. She isn't 40 yet, but she has made her mark, for sure. Must by my wife's genes, or something.

My wife just left for a week in New York because our elder daughter was swamped with her full time job and her two young sons (1½ and 3½) with her husband gone for part of the week. I have to be on the road for much of this week anyway (Yesterday in Holland, today and the next two days in Spain), so the timing was good. My wife is doing not so much baby sitting as daughter-helping, but the difference is not easily determined.

We tried to instill in our daughters the notion that there was nothing they couldn't do as long as they gave it their best effort. Our elder daughter always wanted to live in New York City, and she started out in a horrible leaky apartment and a job with a company that went belly up. But she worked her way up in other jobs, met her husband, improved her living standards, and the only help she would accept from us was the occasional helping out with her children (like this week). We love their "I got this" attitude that we tried so hard to get them to adopt. Our grandchildren are all something special, too, already bi- or tri-lingual at their tender young ages. The third language for the ones in New York is Spanish, and for the ones in Germany, Polish. From birth, my wife and I spoke our own languages to them from birth, and they are so bi-lingual, they speak both German and American English like natives (which they sort of are). It cost us a LOT of time and near burn-out, but we look at them now, and see how very worth it the whole thing was.
