Has any interview of a presidential nominee ever

incorporated video clips that the candidate has to respond to? It was absurd that Fox was showing clips from Trump attack ads and selective edits of Dump speaking at rallies. Can you imagine if Trump sat down for interviews where people who are openly against him could show clips of insane and completely contradictory things he has said? He would call them nasty people, end the interview and walk out.

This tactic is really only fair if the Harris team was allowed to prepare video clips that she could also present. My question is, how unprecedented is this? I don't recall anyone being interviewed in this way before.

I agree! In fact, it showed the Fox audience a stark contrast between Harris and Trump. OAITW r.2.0 Oct 2024 #3

I was impressed by how prepared Harris was. Typically our candidates think they are going to explain policy to patient listeners, and get blindsided by the firehose of bullshit. I guess after more than 30 years of this shit, we are wising up.

I imagine there were a lot of MAGA viewers that were asking themselves...."gee, she seems pretty smart. But Donald told me she was dumb. Maybe I need to look at her more closely."

I remember that Bill Clinton once told off a Fox interviewer when he was President and it played well. I'm seeing last night's interview being portrayed as both a victory for Harris and a disaster, depending on the source of the story. We've gotten used to that, but the sad thing is that many people will just accept the characterization of the media that they follow.

The interview was really a cartoonish onslaught of gotcha questions. There weren't even any non gotcha questions mixed in to give it a pretense of journalistic nonpartisanship. It's not like Trump would ever sit down for an interview with Rachel Maddow or Lawrence O'Donnell, and they would still be more respectful - even though he's a psychopathic narcissist and convicted felon.

throw it back in her face. However, it backfired spectacularly.
