(15,360 posts)Many Republican women were fine voting for Romney, McCain, and Bush. Most were even fine with trump - the 1st time. Do not underestimate Roe V Wade. Republican women also get abortions and not just for medical reasons. Add to that the venom the R's are spewing against women.
They also don't want to start an argument over something their husband will never know. So, they will vote for Harris then say, yes dear.
I am sure there are more than a few are not telling to avoid abuse or destroying their marriage. Yes, there are some men who will be pissed at the idea of their wife not voting how they want her to.

(4,189 posts)Im wondering . Now, what is the difference between the U.S. and some of the Middle Eastern Countries as it relates to womens rights, and how women are treated. Sadly, I guess its safer for women in the U.S. compared to the Middle East because at least the men dont have the right to kill the women that they disagree in their decisions. We really have a problem and if Trump wins, it will only get worse. Sad.

(15,360 posts)My husband tried to give me his opinion on something, right after we were married.
I gave him the side eye and told him.... If I wanted your opinion, I would have told you what it was 1st.
I get it though; women can find themselves in bad relationships and will do a lot to keep the peace.

(1,429 posts)But I realize its mainly to keep him from yapping about politics. I really dont get it. I am Democratic through and through, as was my late husband. It was an important part of our lives. I guess my sister just doesnt think about politics, but shes not stupid. Shes voted Democratic since Obama, but never tells her husband. It just keeps the peace.

(1,459 posts)The first generation of women who grew up with the right to vote.
When I was a teenager, Mother told me that, when I got married, my husband would tell me how to vote. She said to tell him I would do that, but when the curtains closed on the voting machine, I should vote for whoever I wanted, and just lie to my husband about it.
The next thing she said is burned into my memory. "No one has the right to tell you how to vote."
My mother and I disagreed about almost every candidate, but she taught me to fight for my constitutional rights.

(2,675 posts)because in reality, it's usually the woman who would rather live in a small closet (that is her own) than share a big house with an aggressive, yapping husband. Keep the peace is exactly right - nod and smile "Yes dear", then make him a sandwich and he'll dry his tears and be all happy again.
