I think the primary reason is the same as when they did something similar in 2022. Try to control the narrative. Motivate the base by claiming that Trump (the GOP, in general, in 2022) has momentum. Set up claims of fraud if the results don't meet the skewed projections and expectations.

would be the biggest motivation for generating skewed polls. There may be some benefit of motivating the base. But if they lose, and then start whatever efforts they have planned to change the outcome, being able to point to polls favorable to Trump could go a long way to convince their base that whatever they do is justified. "The election was obviously rigged, just look at the polls!"
