What do ya think? I just emailed the White House with it.
This just came to me at work today, and it seems like it could solve a couple of problems for Obama. First of all, he's so qualified it's even silly to bring it up. He's pretty much loved around the world, and is certainly a master of politics. If Obama goes with Susan Rice, it'll be a freakin' nightmare...all the rethugs will want to talk about is Benghazi, and it'll be a circus. John Kerry would be an easy confirmation, but do we want to risk losing a Senate seat? I think a Clinton confirmation would be a walk in the park.
Besides, I bet he could get John Boehner to cry.

(3,436 posts)He can't run for President again...he's served his two terms. (Unless you mean a First Gentleman!) And like I said in my original post, it's not that I don't like Susan Rice...I think she'd be excellent. It's just that between her investment in the pipeline, the fact that Republicans are idiots who will hold up (and probably attempt to filibuster) her nomination, slime her and cost Obama incredible capital, I just don't think it worth what it'll cost. Now, if Reid is successful in changing filibuster rules, I say go for it, because she will be able to win a simple majority in a confirmation vote.

What we should be doing is using the position to jewel up a safe city mayor that we want to bring up or a former or outgoing Governor. It would do wonders for a House members credentials too.
This is a second term, we need competent folks ready for a bigger stage not name brands to help build credibility.
Build the bench up and give folks unassailable credibility for the White House, the Senate, and Governor's mansions.
