pointed out how the frontal lobe is a governor of the "reptilian" part of the brain and helps keep inhibitions in check. As the frontal lobe begins to fail, inhibitions can begin to decline, and symptoms -- from appearance (exposing one's body parts) to increasingly vulgar language -- become more evident.

When I read that, I thought immediately of you-know-who.

No, it’s doesn’t progress quickly (meaning that family go through hell long enough to destroy their souls). And, yes, he has it and it’s mean. I’ve been told things by a person who had it that hurt almost a decade after his death. You justify that it’s the disease, but I do think it makes a mean person extremely mean.

A visit to a neurologist (who will order some imaging) and a neuropsych test can tell a lot. It's helpful to at least set a baseline so you can follow what's happening over time. Sometimes there is treatment.

Maybe she has normal aging. Maybe dementia. I would never have said anything if my mother had not been diagnosed by two different doctors.

not being able to examine him, or not being a qualified professional, makes that a sketchy thing to do.

Still, there's something we, as lay people, can say that really can't be challenged:

Donald Trump is Fucking Nuts!

One of them is Lewy Bodys dementia.

My MiL has fronto temporal dementia, so this past year has been a learning experience on it. She was a teacher. Practical, dependable, smart, level headed and level tempered. Then she became someone who was mean, paranoid, delusional, and devious and deceitful about it. She had memory loss but not forgetting who people are, most of her loss is of short term memories.

Just-as-valid Counterpoint:

Trump does NOT have Dementia; he stands like that because he wears lifts. He's a monstrously vain clown who wants to loom over others to dominate them and can't do it because he's only 6'-1".

One of the symptoms is that they are capable of saying almost anything to anyone and as it becomes more advanced, sexual actions are uninhibited. Gets really creepy.

There are MANY ways that people end up with dementia. The intricacies of how they came to be are sometimes important for treatment but honestly, they seldom matter much and we're not going to be treating him. Nobody will be treating him because he's incapable of admitting any deficit could exist, of any kind.

The dementia is a problem but the far bigger issue is the underlying personality disorders that have always been there. He now has very little executive function and almost no outer forces saving him (and us) from his darkest impulses.
