Ted Cruz Suffers Blow as Texas' Biggest Newspaper Endorses Opponent

n another blow to Republican Senator Ted Cruz, Texas' biggest newspaper has endorsed his Democratic opponent, Rep. Colin Allred.

Cruz is facing Allred, a three-term congressman from Dallas, in a closely watched race that could determine which party wins control of the U.S. Senate.

Democrats see Texas as one of the party's best chances to pick up a Senate seat in November, while Cruz has urged Republicans to take Texas seriously as polls suggest the race could be competitive.

I know most people don't pay attention to newspapers anymore. But, this can't be good for cruz.

Places like Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio will overwhelmingly vote for Allred because they’re populated with people who want Texas to move forward, not back to the 1850’s. The problem is once you get outside of those city limits’, the landscape turns ruby red and those areas are populated with people who have walls literally dedicated to their cross collections, they have Trump flags flying from the beds of their pickups, and they’ll vote for a longhorn cowpie if it has an “R” after it’s name. Belligerently ignorant, the lot of ‘em.

As did the San Antonio Express News

Texas has been within a few points of a Democratic flip recently, precisely because the number of Democratic voters increases with the number of people who move to the cities and suburbs. This year may be the tipping point. My former next door neighbor in the Houston suburb where we once lived said in a social media post that the neighborhood where we once lived is completely free of Trump signs, and has more than two dozen Harris signs. Of course, it's a predominantly ethnic neighborhood, about a third Asian of Indian descent and another third Indonesian, Filipino, Vietnamese. Whites are abut 20% of the population and that's typical of a lot of Houston suburbs these days.

The Dallas Morning News, "We looked not only at their actions but also listened to their words, and, after doing so, we recommend voters cast their ballots for Allred in the coming election," the newspaper's editorial board said.

Allred has also been endorsed by the Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

I lived in the Ft. Worth area for a couple of years. If I were Texan, I'd be hopping mad to have a coward and grifter represent my state - one who's name is Rafael but call himself "Ted" because he thinks everyone there's a dumb redneck.

Well, Texas: prove him wrong!

In March of 2018 on the actual date of that final battle, this guy said that the Civil War was the "War of Northern aggression." In front of people at his booth, I replied.."Oh! You mean the Confederate states who broke away from the Union to fight for, and preserve the RIGHT of white people OWNING Black people, and treating them less than human? THAT war?"

Needless to say, this re-enactor was very irate with me and asked me on what authority did I have the right to question his spiel! "I READ books! History books! I have traveled to Historical places in this country centered on the American Civil War! I MINORED in American History in College! Are you saying Ken Burns was WRONG when he made his well-known series that featured well known Civil War Historian, Shelby Foote?"

The Senate race in Texas has a well educated, former NFL Linebacker and Lawyer in Colin Allred against a Harvard Law grad that has surely lost his way with reality, sucking up to a man who perhaps despises him. A NFL Linebacker faces challenges and focuses on his job. Ted Cruz RUNS AWAY from a challenge. Thus fleeing to Cancun when Texas froze!

The metaphor here is Education and the FACTS wins the day. Voters are getting more educated as to where candidates stand when it comes to the issues and facts. Texas is not as RED as Cruz and others wish to see it.
